cpu load of cisco 6500 switch

Hi,
we have recently installed a cisco 6500 Core switch and I would like to monitor the CPU load.

The exact model of the MSFC is WS-C6509

I have used a snmp walk and have got the following OID's

OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.56
Type INTEGER

Units % load

Access read-only

Status unknown

CPU busy percentage in the last 5 second period. Not the last 5 realtime seconds but the last 5 second period
in the scheduler.

i have used the above OID but the CPU load remains always zero

Appreciate if someone can tell me the exact OID's required to monitor CPU load

Thanks

Simon

Re: cpu load of cisco 6500 switch

Hi, Simon

I'm using this OID for CPU load in one Catalyst. But it's for de
Catalyst's CPU, not for the MSFC.
Anyway, I paste it here. I hope it could help you.

Target[catalyst1_cpu]:

Windows 2000 Uptime

Hi All,

Just a quick question does anyone have or know of a way of using MRTG to monitor Windows 2000 Uptime?

Cheers in advance

Monitor CPU and memory load Cisco 1710

Hi,
I am trying to find out how to monitor CPU and memory load on a Cisco
1710. I have tried to figure out the OID with SNMP walk but always
get "end of mib subtree".

Anyone have the OID (or better exampe of MRTG .cfg-file
configuration) to use?

Blue skies!

Monitor Microsoft-Cluster

Hi All,

I’m trying to monitor a Microsoft-Cluster! My problem is to monitor the Disk
space of the of the two cluster servers. Has someone tried this before?

Thanks in advance

Re: Monitor CPU and memory load Cisco 1710

have a look at: http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/mrtg/msg23830.html
I posted two templates there with a description how to call cfgmaker with them.
gives you a config with CPU,Mem (with correct percentage read from router!) and many other stuff like
iferrors, queuedrops etc.
The most recent version of these templates I'm currently using is attached,
there were a few minor cosmetic fixes since then..
these templates probably do much more then you need, I'd suggest to delete the tragets you don't want to graph.

BTW, I'd still be interested in any other templates people are using ?

Re: Windows 2000 Uptime

There is a standard SNMP variable for this. You can use GetIf to find
it.

ifSpeed vs. ifHighSpeed (fwd)

Hello,

There is a problem with snmp v2 and MaxBytes calculation. Here is
a typical example:

$ snmpget router public ifSpeed.200
interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifSpeed.200 = Gauge: 512000

$ snmpget router public ifHighSpeed.200
ifMIB.ifMIBObjects.ifXTable.ifXEntry.ifHighSpeed.200 = Gauge: 1

cfgmaker uses ifHighSpeed value and therefore calculates MaxBytes
incorrectly.

Also according to

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_q_and_a_item09186a00800b69ac.shtml#QB

cfgmaker has to use 32 bits counters for interfaces that operate at
20 Mbps or less and I believe it has to use ifSpeed for MaxBytes
calculation instead of rounded up ifHighSpeed.

Here is my fix:

--- cfgmaker.orig	Tue Sep  2 16:50:52 2003
+++ cfgmaker	Tue Sep  2 17:02:39 2003
 <at>  <at>  -127,7 +127,12  <at>  <at>
         for ( my $i=0; $i<=$#ifHighSpeed; $i++ ) {
                 my ($if,$value) = split /:/, $ifHighSpeed[$i], 2;
                 $value = $value * 1000000;  # highSpeed = contador * 10^6
