Problems with Legend[1234IO]

I've defined some default values for some equipment that I monitor as:

WithPeak[_]:ym
ShortLegend[_]: bites
XSize[_]: 380
YSize[_]: 100
YLegend[_]: Memory (kb)
Legend1[_]: Memory Free
Legend2[_]:
Legend3[_]: Memory Free
Legend4[_]:
LegendI[_]:  Free
LegendO[_]:
Options[_]: gauge, nopercent, growright, transparent, unknaszero

However, while the first legend (LegendI) says "Free" I still get the
second line (LegendO) saying "Out". The docs (MRTG v2.8.6 on NT) say that
to make the second not display at all you must leave the definition empty,
as I did above. Does this not apply for default definitions?

Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

quick question

I know I have this somewhere, but I cannot seem to locate it when I need it
of course :)

I need to do some comparisons, specifically CPU load vs. output on an ether
interface on a linux box.

What I need to know is how I get the OID for output on the ether interface.
When I run cfgmaker I get
2:string <at> server.net, how do extract the OID for ouput on this? Please point
me to any manuals/readmes
I may be missing......

Re: Problems with Legend[1234IO]

I found I needed to do that in each individual target stanza; trying it in the
default target didn't work. And sure enough, in the command reference:

To remove the default value and return to the 'factory default', specify an
empty value, e.g.:

gauge/counter

OK. So I was asked to try to graph cpu load vs. ifoutoctets on a graph,
and, not really
giving it much thought, said "A-OK!"

Now, though, I realized something - load is a gauge value whereas
ifoutoctets is not.

is there still a way for me to do this? I am using rrdtool rather than rateup.

alerting and mrtg

Is there the possibility to send an email to some group of the people if
some of monitoring resources are not available?

Well, on the unix comp., I get the mail on the local machine, but that is
due to cron services. I need to send this on some smtp server with proper
customized notification that some monitoring services or link is down.

Best regards,

Cisco CSS11052 64 bit counters and BER Type 81

(Sorry if this is a repost)
I'm trying to read the 64 bit counters off a Cisco CSS 11052 (formerly known
as an Arrowpoint Content Switch). snmpwalk provides values, but all zeros
are being entered into the .rrd log file.

Here is the configuration for one of the interfaces:
### Interface 9 >> Descr: 'ethernet-9' | Name: '' | Ip: '' | Eth:
'00-10-58-01-66-be' ###

Target[192.168.10.10_ethernet-9]:
ap64ifInOctets\ethernet-9&ap64ifOutOctets\ethernet-9:********** <at> 192
168.10.10:::::2
SetEnv[192.168.10.10_ethernet-9]: MRTG_INT_IP="" MRTG_INT_DESCR="ethernet-9"
MaxBytes[192.168.10.10_ethernet-9]: 125000000
Title[192.168.10.10_ethernet-9]: ethernet-9 -- vxTarget
PageTop[192.168.10.10_ethernet-9]: <H1>ethernet-9 -- vxTarget</H1>

   <TR><TD>ifName:</TD> <TD></TD></TR>
   <TR><TD>Max Speed:</TD> <TD>125.0 MBytes/s</TD></TR>
 </TABLE>

I ran MRTG with snpo debugging turned on, and receive the following result:
--snpo: (0) Descr crosscheck OK
--snpo: (1) Descr crosscheck OK
--snpo: (0) Confcache Match ethernet-9 -> .9

Re: alerting and mrtg

Robert,
One way of doing this is through aliasing.
Create an alias to a valid distribution list or email address then set your
root mail to be sent to this address. When Cron notifies the root <at> localhost
(your alias) of the problem, it forwards it to either the distribution group
or email address.

256k Frame-Relay and MRTG

I have configured MRTG to show me the traffic patterns on 2 Cisco 2501s
running IOS 12.0

I am getting good graphs but I am a bit confused on how to read my graphs.

Each interface is configured like so

### Interface 5 >> Descr: 'Serial0.1' | Name: 'Se0.1' | Ip: '' | Eth: '' ###

Target[##.##.###.##_#]: 5:group <at> ##.##.###.##:
SetEnv[##.##.###.##_#]: MRTG_INT_IP="" MRTG_INT_DESCR="Serial0.1"
MaxBytes[##.##.###.##_#]: 32000
Title[10.##.##.###.##_#]: Traffic Analysis for 5 -- routername
PageTop[##.##.###.##_#]: <H1>Traffic Analysis for 5 -- routername</H1>
 <TABLE>
   <TR><TD>System:</TD> <TD>routername in </TD></TR>
   <TR><TD>Maintainer:</TD> <TD></TD></TR>
   <TR><TD>Description:</TD><TD>Serial0.1 connected to routername </TD></TR>
   <TR><TD>ifType:</TD> <TD>frame-relay (32)</TD></TR>
   <TR><TD>ifName:</TD> <TD>Se0.1</TD></TR>
   <TR><TD>Max Speed:</TD> <TD>250.0 kb/s</TD></TR>
 </TABLE>

What is the best way to configure this to represent my 256k frame-relay
links in the graph?
I use 32000 at instructed.
When I view my graphs, they read on the left hand side: bytes per second and
then
6.0k
