Compiling kvpnc for Scientific Linux 6

I am trying to compile kvpnc for SL 6 since there is no binary out there
(that I can find for it). I compiled it but when I run it it crashes. Here
are some of the error messages. It starts, but when I go to the Import Cisco
Profile and when I click the little icon to choose my pcf file for import,
the program crashes. I am starting it from a root terminal. Any help would
be appreciated. Here are the errors I get:

QGtkStyle was unable to detect the current GTK+ theme.
Qt: Session management error: None of the authentication protocols specified
are supported
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
KCrash: Application 'kvpnc' crashing...
Segmentation fault

:(

I really like kvpnc. Used it all the time in Ubuntu but need Scientific
Linux for developing under Blue Cat Linux which runs in SL 6 for embedded
development.

ubuntu 10.10 and KVPNC ISSUES

HI

To whom it may concern.

I upgraded to ubuntu 10.10 and started having issues with KVPNC not working.

KVPNC worked ok on ubuntu 10.4

The problem is that the first time I use kvpnc it worked but the connection
was only active for 5-10 seconds.
Then i restart kvpnc and my cpu/ram went to 100% for 10-15 minutes, after
wards the cpu drops and the app is sometimes open.
Hope someone can help

Regards
Tim

kvpnc not working

Hi,

I've been trying to connect with kvpnc to PPTP/L2TP Win2008 server and
it fails.
When I try L2TP the popup window appears which says: 'Error in generated
configuration file for "racoon", please contact the KVpnc team'
When I hit ok, new popup appears with 'Failed to start "ipsec"' twice.
Then I get new popup 'Algorithm mismatched, please select another one'.
Next popup again says 'Error in generated configuration file for
"racoon", please contact the KVpnc team'. When I hit ok, it finally
stopps the attempt, but my default route gets lost.

Here is the log for l2tp connection attempt:

Some issues (sudo kvpnc + pppd + scripting)

Hello,

unfortunately I have problems with kvpnc again:

1. I configured kvpnc (V. 0.9.0 / release 21.12.1 OpenSuse 11.1) for
normal users (with sudo) like it is described here:

http://home.gna.org/kvpnc/de_DE/documentation.html#sudo

But when I try to start kvpnc via the modyfied icon it doesn't start at
all. I can only start giving my root-pw when KDU-su asks me for it.

2. Next thing is that when I connected via pppd to some other network
and then try to close my connection pppd hangs, remains connected and I
have to kill pppd manually.

3. I tried do configure some actions after the conncetion has been
established, like:

/usr/bin/rdesktop server -u user -g 80% -z

I but the command in the appropriate window like show above and once
again like this:

"/usr/bin/rdesktop server -u user -g 80% -z"

No chance - the command isn't executed when the connection has been
established.

Any hints?

Thanks!

Ivan

KVPNC 0.9.3 won't connect to MS-CHAP V2

Hi guys,

I've recently come back to Mandriva 2010 after spending some time using
Kubuntu. On Kubunutu with version 0.9.0 of KVPNC I was able to connect to my
works VPN which is supposed to use MS-CHAP V2, however I selected just plain
"CHAP" and it connected fine (so well that I couldn't disconnect, had to
restart :)).

On Mandriva 2010 with 0.9.3, I have tried various combinations but can't get
it working. The closest I can get is to use MS-CHAP (not V2) which allows it
to connect but I can't do anything, for example if I try to ping known IP
addresses I get:

[lionelandjenni <at> lionelandjenni-desktop ~]$ ping 10.10.10.16
PING 10.10.10.16 (10.10.10.16) 56(84) bytes of data.
^C
--- 10.10.10.16 ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 4304ms

[lionelandjenni <at> lionelandjenni-desktop ~]$

Eventually KVPNC will tell me the remote modem has hung up and most times it
will crash at this point.

I disabled the firewall because that was getting in the way.

I've pasted the log window content below with IP addresses removed:
