gtalk server federation error

Hi,

I remember I was able to send from gtalk to another server, say,
jabber.org, then send a reply from jabber.org to gtalk. However,
I notice that although I still can send a message from gtalk to
jabber.org, the reply message fails to send.

I also tried sending to gizmoproject and observed the same issue.

Anyone else is also seeing this?

Thanks,
Jack

Since some days ago Google's server seems to be rejecting incoming messaages
from people that aren't in your roster. For that reason Google users are also
unable to join MUC rooms [1].

[ANN] Prosody 0.3.0 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of Prosody 0.3.0.

Possibly the most dramatic change from the previous release is that
of the license, from GPL to the more permissive MIT/X11.
Lots of under-the-hood fixes and improvements went on, but we still
managed to slip in a few new exciting features.

Prosody is a lightweight Jabber/XMPP server written in Lua. It aims
to be flexible, easy to extend, and simple to use for both users
and developers alike.

The following is a summary of changes since the previous version:

	     * Changed licensing from GPLv2 to MIT/X11
	     * Handle missing runtime dependencies even better
	     * Handle missing config file nicely
	     * New syntax for defining server components in the config file
	     * Module reloading (to apply code changes without a restart)
	     * Logging improvements
	     * Fix for ejabberd data import with incoming-only subscriptions
	     * Syslog support for POSIX systems
	     * Report correct PID on daemonization
	     * Add support for writing out pidfile during daemonization
	     * Stringprep support
	     * Fixed replies to some stanzas which generated an error
	     * Much improved BOSH support
	     * Rate-limiting for in-band registration
	     * Black/whitelists for in-band registration
	     * Don't fail for SASL auth with empty realm

Re: gtalk server federation error

I see. Thanks. Maybe because gtalk users were being spammed. Was it
announced by google? Any plan from them to also block outgoing messages
to people not in roster?

I know of no announcement.

We're not Google, so no idea :)

For the record they have always blocked incoming messages from users
not on your roster. However they made an exception in the case of
groupchat messages, most likely based on the fact that you sent
directed presence to the room prior to receiving messages from it. It
is just this behaviour that has now changed.

Hope this helps,
Matthew.

Re: gtalk server federation error

Actually I think they allowed incoming messages from people not on the roster.
My code used to work until a couple of days ago ...

Re: gtalk server federation error

Hello,

I don't know if that's related, but since a couple of days my
jabber.org account see all my gtalk contacts as disconnected. And they
also see me disconnected. Pidgin say "404: Remote Server Not Found".

So I create a jabber.fr account and… it's work. Is that a
jabber.org or gtalk issue ? Anyone have any ideas how to solve it ?

Thanks,
Aurélien.

WSDL with HTTP binding/REST interface/WSDL with XMPP bindings for XMPP server

Hey everyone, I would like to communicate with a XMPP server through a WSDL.

I can't find one on jabber.org, is there one available ?
As far as I understand, it is possible to interact with a XMPP server by
sending XML messages over XMPP respecting the XMPP schemas, right ?

Any other binding would work as long as it is supported by any other XMPP
server: over HTTP, with or without the SOAP envelope, etc.

Thanks,

Antoine

XMPP4R component development

Hi, guys,
  I'm trying to take advantage of component protocol considering its great scalability.

  I tried to figure out the relationship between client and component, it turns out I can't.

  Can somebody help to explain or provide some links? Thank you.

All the best,
Hao Liu

I'm told this should be fixed now.
