pending messages

Hello,

i am thinking about a small program that asks the server whether
there are pending messages. The only problem is that i didn't manage
to get it to work. I'm not sure whether this is possible at all.
I'm using the loudmouth library and tried to accomplish this with
the message handler. But when the message handler is called the
message is already deleted on the server i believe.
So, my question is: Is there a way to ask the server directly, whether
there are messages pending without actually get them delivered to the
client and therefore deleted on the server?

thanks,
andreas

We have this:

http://www.xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0013.html

The latest release of jabberd 1.x supports it. But it is not yet widely
implemented.

Maybe you're looking for XEP-0013: Flexible Offline Message Retrieval?

JSF membership application period

The Jabber Software Foundation is currently holding its quarterly
membership application period:

http://wiki.jabber.org/index.php/Membership_Applications_January_2007

Applications are encouraged from developers and others who are actively
involved in the Jabber/XMPP community. To apply, create a page about
yourself on the wiki. If you don't have a wiki account, send your name
and email address to one of the Sysops:

http://wiki.jabber.org/index.php/Sysops

Because the JSF is a membership organization, we need you to maintain
our legal status, elect the Jabber Council and JSF Board of Directors,
etc. Responsibilities are minimal (mostly voting) and it looks nice on
your resume. :-)

The application period ends on January 15, so apply today!

Thanks.

Alex

FOSDEM / devcon / interop update

The devcon / interop event around FOSDEM is still on schedule. I have a
question for folks about the timing. Mickael Remond and I have been
looking into dates and we think that it might be better to hold the
small interop event / devcon on Monday (February 26) instead of Friday
(February 23). That way people can get to know each other a bit over the
weekend at FOSDEM and we can talk a bit about some of the topics we want
to discuss in more depth. Then we can have a more focused day on Monday.

Thoughts?

Peter

RE: FOSDEM / devcon / interop update

Peter,

Monday seems like it would be fine. It would be great to get the date
locked down ASAP so that we can all start making travel plans. :)

Yes, we'll figure it out real soon now. :-)

Re: FOSDEM / devcon / interop update

OK, I've updated the wiki page to reflect the Monday event:

http://wiki.jabber.org/index.php/Interop_Event

I think that Mickael has a room reserved for Monday the 26th, but he is
offline this week so I can't double-check with him.

Re: FOSDEM / devcon / interop update

i think we also should setup a participant list on the Wiki. So all
members/developers who are interested to participate the event can
signup there.
I think most of us have to stay in a hotel for some days, so we should
recommend 1 or 2 hotels.

Re: Re: FOSDEM / devcon / interop update

It's a wiki -- feel free to edit. :-) I've started an attendee list at
the relevant page:
