Are there any Debian Lenny packages available for this release?

Jabber with these features

Hi

I am looking for a Complete messenger solution with following features

1.Secured Data Transfer.
2.Group chat.
3.Voice Chat.
Does Jabber has these in there open source or commercial version or
is there some other chat server like jabber which has all of them.
Please suggest.

Thanks in advance.

Ping limit for nodes in ejabberd cluster

Hello,

I'm preparing to create ejabberd cluster. Can anyone tell me the
optimal and maximum ping between the nodes? I wonder how distant can the
servers be located.

Anybody made cluster with servers located in different data centers?
Any experiences?

Thank you.

Regards, Marcus

How to send message from server

I just installed jabber 1.4.2 for the purpose of sending messages to a small list of users.  I only want to communicate one way, from the server to the client (MS communicator if possible).  I can’t seem to find any useful documentation.  How do I configure the server/client and can I send a message that is also configurable?  I am running  jabber on a Tandem server, hence the old server version.

Thanks,

  -Matt.

A Jabber server may not be your best option as Jabber uses XMPP while MS Communicator users SIP/SIMPLE so you can't send messages from Jabber to MS Communicator without installing a gateway between them.

There is an open source gateway if you can work with Linux and Python, just Google them.

You might want to ask about this on the ejabberd list:

You can send a message to all the user using the "motd" feature.
However, that will not prevent users from chatting with each other.
