through our openLDAP. Can anyone tell me how to autheticate users
through openLDAP instead of authentication through the user.xml file

Thanks!  There was some question in my mind about whether this was
working as one would expect, but i didn't see anything in the docs about
it.  I'll be HUP'n now :)

delivery retries

hi, all.

i'm very new to this jabber(d) thing, and ran into the following problem:
i have one central server, and a couple of 'sub-servers', which (due to 
infrastructual limitations) connect a couple of times per day via 
dial-up to the central server (pppd).

my plan was to have jabberd running on all servers, because i was 
assuming that ther server to server communication was bufferes to - i.e. 
that a server would hold a message until the recipient's server comes 
online, and then sends them to that server. the receipient's server 
should cache the messages until the user gets online.

but as i just found out, the s2s coms don't buffer - is there any way to 
still get this to work as i plan? someone in the jabber-chat suggested 
telling the server to e.g. retry delivery every 30secs, for 1000 times, 
returning an error message if after all those tries he couldn't pass on 
the message. this sounds as if it would work - but he was refereing to 
the javajabber server, which might some day support an option like 
this....can jabberd do this?

i was wondering:

wouldn't it be possible to simply make user.xml file a FIFO (via mknod), 
and generate the required xml on-the-fly using e.g. some database backend?

if not, then why not?
