Me too. The directory is:

/opt/jabber/jabber-1.4.2/yahoo-transport-0.8.1-1-4/

Unable to start jabberd

Hello all,

I am new to jabber so bear with me. I am having trouble starting the
jabber server. The installation goes through smoothly. Then I edit the
jabber configuration file as described in the jabberd How-To. But when I
attempt to start jabberd it just hangs. It seems to be unable to return
from a function in users.c. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance;

David Malveaux

Re: Re: [JDEV] Yahoo transport?

Hi all,
When i first installed yahoo transport i had pretty much the same
problem. I went through the archives and tried all the remedies. The
only thing that worked for me was to manualy edit the yahootrans.h to
set the path for my jabberd file.

ie change the line that reads

#include "jabberd.h" to read to
#include "/path/to/jabberd/jabberd.h"

it's crude but it works ;-)

Actually, I found that you need to run the --with-jabberd=DIR flag with
DIR=/path/to/jabberd-dir (that is, not /path/to/jabberd-binary). ie.
You have jabber in /opt/jabber. You would run:

./configure --with-jabberd=/opt/jabber

(Note the lack of the trailing '/jabberd')

Hope this helps.

One possible problem is that the <aimbinarydir> section is looking for a
directory, not the file. Here's mine:

<aimbinarydir>./aim-transport</aimbinarydir>

The .exe file resides in the transport directory. Try removing the
filename and see if that fixes it.
