downtime, sigh

helsinki, the system that runs gopher.floodgap.com, is down due to a power
outage. I'm trying to get a beefier UPS and get things working. Expect it to
be up by midday tomorrow.

database upgrade on helsinki completed

helsinki, the NetBSD system running gopher.floodgap.com, had its mySQL
backend that powers the Veronica-2 spider and search engine upgraded today
(finally). Apologies for the intermittent downtime, but it looks like
everything is working. There may be some brief glitches tonight while I do
some last-minute optimization, but otherwise it's fully functional.

Re: database upgrade on helsinki completed

Glad to see gopher back up and running. Still looking for a good NT gopher
server that will work on a system with a natted/private ip address. Any
ideas?

Bucktooth under Cygwin works pretty good for me on Win2000.
