Yes.

Do it like is described (with screenshots) on the nomachine.com
web pages.

.xinitrc ignored

My apologies if I alread sent this, I never saw it
come through:

I saw the thread
http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/freenx-knx/2005-March/000977.html

and I tried setting the directives and restart
nxserver, but I still get a blank screen when I choose
"Load from X server"

node.conf:
USER_X_STARTUP_SCRIPT=.xinitrc
DEFAULT_X_SESSION=/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc

$HOME/.xinitrc:
exec xfce4-session

freenx-knx <at> kde.orgThe only time I can get xfce4 to
load is when I
specficy the command to load it, however this (and any
other way) of looging in via NX !machine client
doesn't pick up my user's customized settings. I just
get a default desktop (be it gnome, xfce4, kde, etc).

Using Free-NX with a different port (10023) ?

Hi list,

- this is a simple one :-)

- On SuSE10, how can i set SSH to use port (say) 10023 instead of 22 - and hen
ce have FreeNX using this port?
- I tried editing /etc/ssh/sshd.conf, restarted sshd, but I didn't (so it
seems) get the desired effect.

What am I missing?

Where to get nxclient-1.5.0-103 or nxclient-1.4.0 for Windows?

Hello,

I have a recent install of free-nxserver on a SuSE 10.0 machine.

I am experiencing problems that others have posted about regarding the Windows client (v1.5.0-106 and v1.5.0-114) going into fullscreen mode upon reconnecting to a suspended session.

Members have suggested reverting back to previous versions of the Windows client, which appear to not have this issue.

I am having difficulty finding an older version to download. The posted links take you to nomachine.com's current client.

I have searched nomachine.com's site and googled for a few good hours trying to find an alternate download site for nxclient-1.5.0-103 or nxclient-1.4.0 for Windows.

Could someone post a link or perhaps email me a previous Windows XP client version? Many thanks!

Regards,

MC

Well, after playing around with the configuration file
for the last 3 days, I've determined, it's not even
being used :(

I edited /usr/NX/etc/node.conf, restart nxserver, and
I'm not getting any of the preferences showing up when
I use nomachine client.

For example, loading a default window manager (if I
choose custom, always uses twm (i believe it's twm).
Even when I enable unix-custom and set it to xfce4:
ENABLE_DEFAULT_X_WM="1"
ENABLE_DEFAULT_X_WM_KILL="0"
DEFAULT_X_WM=/usr/bin/xfce4-session

In !Machine client I choose "unix custom" and then
check "Run the default X client script on server".

This always brings up twm, no matter what I do.

I also tried the default xinitrc settings (to no
avail):

USER_X_STARTUP_SCRIPT=.xinitrc
DEFAULT_X_SESSION=/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc

Anybody get this to work? It's like it's completely
ignoring the free-nx conf files. The only way I can
get the window manager I want is by specifiying the
path in the !machine client: "Run the following
command" equal to "xcfe4-session" (this is not ideal
though).

Holy snikies....I figured it out!
/usr/NX/etc/node.conf:
USER_X_STARTUP_SCRIPT=.xinitrc
DEFAULT_X_SESSION=/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc

chmod 755 /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc (it wasn't
executable)

I was able to determine this by running
/usr/NX/bin/nxloadconfig --check

Black Screen issues again?

Hello everyone,

	I am experiencing the EXACT same issue as described here:

http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/freenx-knx/2005-October/002365.html

	However, I am using CentOS 4 and the FreeNX and nx RPMS from atrpms. I
have tried KDE, GNOME, console, run this command (gnome-session,
xterm,etc) and use default session, all with the same results. I have
tried it over a 100mbit switched lan and two ADSL connections with the
same result. I have turned on the most verbose logging that I can find
with no obvious errors. SSH Auth is fine and I have tunnel everything
with SSL turned on.

	Was this ever resolved?

Thanks!

OK. I'm dense. I finally figured out that the the two ip
addresses in the vnc-session.pdf are different - one for
gateway, the other for windows.

Another question: Detail on nxclient shows:

Info: Using remote ZLIB stream compression level 6.
Info: No suitable cache file found. <<<<<<<<<<<
Info: Starting X protocol compression.

On both server and client <user>/.nx/cache-vnc/ exists, but
both are empty. Is there something I need to do? touch
somefile?
