mmm i'm replying via hotmail which is stupid i know i'll create a new id some day i haven't checked the forums in a while but dude you're using slackware meaning you love unix just like me i use slackware as well kernel 2.6.18.2. first of all check out esj's hacked valknut clients, they are the way to go imho the link is this: http://www.dcs.warwick.ac.uk/%7Ecsucda/tarballs/ a month ago i created a free rootshell account since it's free and well the guy is a belgian like me so it's nice. And since i was asked this question a lot of times i posted my hublists on my personal homepage there, this is also the link i provide linuxpackages.net when i post a package which has happened twice :D. Beware i have a clear cut idea for the future content of the site but nowadays it's just a simple quick vim hacked html page with the hublists and some other things which would give you a clue at what i'm intending to do anyway i posted my ~24 hublists there which give me a total of 12.647 quasi-uniq hubs link is: http://www.rootshell.be/~goarilla hope you'll enjoy valknut, it's one of the killer apps most of my friends are jealous of _________________________________________________________________ Wie heeft het hart van de Japanners gestolen en heeft altijd iets in zijn handen? (no subject)

Hello!
I am running Slackware Linux 11.0 with kernel 2.6.18 (test26.s). I have compiled from sources and
installed valknut-0.3.7-i486-1 and dclib-0.3.7-i486-1. I have chosen active mode connection with my
exact IP. The problem is that when I go to Action->hub list->public and click the swirly arrow, as
described in the manual, I get no hub list, not a single hub appears in the menu. In Action->hub list ->
bookmarks I only have the berlios hub. When I right click on it and select "connect" I get the error message:
"Resolver error". It seems that I am unable to connect to internet.

I hope to get some helpful advice. Thank you very much for your attention.
Regards,
Martin

*Error/2

Ok, so what does
*Error/2
mean?
I'm getting that _a lot_ and I can't find an explanation anywhere how to
fix it. Usually deleting the download and trying again helps so it
doesn't seem to serious...of course that s very annoying for a large
amount oft downloads

Valknut 0.3.8.1 released

An mistake was made in the creation of the 0.3.8 tarball causing no
icon to be shown in the userlist when a ghost icon should have been
shown. This has been fixed.

Also, the Mac OS X build files and the authors list in the about dialog
have been updated. Two minor gui bugs have been fixed: the positioning
of the away message entry box in the options dialog and the saving of
the visibility of the speed and email columns in the userlist
(http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1618286&group_id=181579&atid=897767)

Please note there is no new dclib released, valknut 0.3.8.1 requires
dclib 0.3.8.

The new valknut tarball can be downloaded from sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=181579

Valknut 0.3.8 released

On December 12, 2006 dclib and valknut 0.3.8 were released on
sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/wxdcgui

They integrate a few months worth of patches, starting from the 0.3.7
release.

Here is a summary of the changes:

dclib:
- extended tag optional H:Normal/Reg/Op
- optional more detailed logging
- support ADCGet and TTHF for compatibility with DC++ >= 0.696
- auto search by TTH
- auto search interval adjustable
- do not split up single mode downloads
- various bug fixes and minor changes (openssl 0.9.8, TTH finding,
UGetBlock responses)

valknut:
- gui additions to support new dclib settings
- custom chat commands
- /sh command to send shell command output to chat
- improved search spy
- custom menu commands for hub and user list
- various minor tweaks and additions, such as filebrowser column for
human readable size, splitting up the slots column for search results,
improved sorting of transfers by transfer progress...

The most complete changelog is here:

Debian GNU/Linux and Ubuntu Packages - some assembly might be required

I've made some Debian GNU/Linux sarge (PowerPC, i386 and SPARC) as
well as Ubuntu dapper (PowerPC) packages of dclib (v20061104ejs +
fix-wrong-hub-count.patch) and Valknut (v20061104) availible
at my FTP site:

Just add (for Debian GNU/Linux) to /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb ftp://ftp.bayour.com/pub/debian/ sarge .
deb-src ftp://ftp.bayour.com/pub/debian/ sarge .

For Ubuntu dapper (also in /etc/apt/sources.list):
deb ftp://ftp.bayour.com/pub/debian/ dapper .
deb-src ftp://ftp.bayour.com/pub/debian/ dapper .

Unfortunatly i haven't had time to setup SPARC/i386 build
environments for Ubuntu dapper, so I only have PPC packages.
But the source 'package' is in ftp://ftp.bayour.com/pub/debian/dists/sarge/source/Valknut/
if you don't have the distribution/arch already made.

Just download the following four files which 'unpacks'
with 'dpkg-source -x <file>.dsc'. Then to build the
package (remember to build libdc0 first, it's required
by the valknut package), run 'debuild -uc -us -B -b'.

   libdc0_0.3.7-3.TF.3.dsc
   libdc0_0.3.7.orig.tar.gz
   valknut_0.3.7-2ubuntu1.TF.5.dsc
   valknut_0.3.7.orig.tar.gz

I have yet to evaluate the fix-wrong-hub-count patch,
but Valknut starts and seems to work just fine...

Fixing the wrong hub counts

I've had another look at the code I wrote to enable the extended hub
count (H:3/2/1 like DC++), and I think I have fixed instances where it may have returned the wrong counts. In particluar, the error occurs when you lose a connection to a hub that you are a registered user in. The patch, to be applied to dclib-0.3.7-20061104ejs, is available here: http://www.dcs.warwick.ac.uk/~csucda/patches/dclib-0.3.7-20061104ejs-fix-wrong-hub-count.patch Please could people who have previously reported problems with the hub count test this patch. cvs or stable?

Hello,
I'd like to ask a couple of questions.

It seems that the latest stable relase 0.3.7 is a few years old. Does
that mean that the development stopped altogether? Does the CVS version
differ?

The second question concerns using valknut: When Valknut successfully
downloads a file, it seems impossible to do more downloads. I can search
the hub, view the results, but when I choose to download some other
file, it complains: "Not connected to required hub!" When I click
"connect", the Valknut will try to connect to the hub, but it will get
immediately disconnected by the hub, because it says that the there is
already a user connected with the same nick.
Am i doing something wrong, or is this a bug?
Thanks for your work,
petr

'after the download has started'. For this session, or at all?
If I change the setting and restart Valknut. Will those particular
downloads still be multi?

I'll try that version. In the mean time I've been running my own version,
with SOME of the latest patches.

The only patches I have NOT applied are the following. My version works
perfectly. In two hours running, it downloaded 22 files (roughly a gig)
with more than 14 concurrent inbout (i.e. me downloading) connections
where as 20061017ejs didn't download ANY.

Auto-Search

I'm running Valknut v20061017 by ejs and i was
wondering about the Auto-Search function in
the configs...

What does it actually do? The most obvious ('Auto-
Search for new sources') don't seem to work/do anything
(visable).
