cicq under FreeBSD

hello,

has anybody succeeded connecting to msn using cicq built from ports
under FreeBSD?

centericq 4.21.0
FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE

icq itself works fine, but msn just can't connect to the network
(messenger.msn.com:1683?)

any advises? thank you in advance.

no, it's the same result -- just do not connect. port is open. may be
there any specific patches, which i should apply? there were some
talks here about msn problems...

also, from the other side, Saulius, if your cicq works fine under
freebsd, then i would be very grateful if you could just send me the
binary to s @ kpoxa.org in order to try it and locate the problem: is
it the problem of *my* cicq? or my network? or something else...

buciau labai dekingas :).

also, would be thankful for any other advise / opinion here...

You can find a msn patch i made on centericq.de. Please let me know if it
works for you

Personally i also had succes for a while without my patch, but using a
debug build.

centericq core dumps this morning

hi there

I'm using centericq 4.21.0 (on linux kernel 2.4.18 which has been working fine
till now, but this morning cicq dumps a core file as it connects to message
servers.
If i remove the MSN account from .centericq/config it works fine.
I've run an strace but nothing obvious jumps out.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Any more info I could give you?

cheers
nicholas

Re: centericq core dumps this morning

This issue has been answered a lot of times...
There is a bug in libmsn, badly reacting to "NOT" messages delivered by
msn.
See the mailing list archive for more information.

disable history?

Hi,

Is there a way to disable the history file, or have centericq not save to
the history file?

Thanks,
Martin

  rm history
  ln -s /dev/null history
:)

Real funny. I it and it does not work, because messages don't even show up
on the screen.

I know I can play all sorts of file trickery, invoke centricq from a
script, etc. but is there a simple way to disable writing the history file
and still see messages in the window from within centericq?

Thanks,
Martin
