patches for cvs version

on centericq.de:
New set of patches available for cvs version by TigerP on Tue July 25th
@ 18:30 (link)
(2 Comments | Add comment)

Because of a segmentation fault when using MSN, Mark Pustjens has
created a patch for libmsn with a readme that solves that problem for
him. This patch needs an other patch to be able to work with it. (also
with a readme).
And Stephen has created a patch to make it possible to resize the
panels.

How much would it take for this to get integrated to the actual CVS vs
being supplied as patches? Is Konst doing any development at all?
Maybe he should hand off patching to TigerP

Last I posted wether any dev was being done, I got a snide remark from
Konst wether there was something I needed which wasn't working for me,
and I complained about just one of these segfault issues, not to mention
several other people had suggestions/requests.

I can appriciate Konst being busy with other things in life, but I don't
respect any haughty replies to bugs/enhancements filed. I also think
that if the main developer is not going to be active for a longer period
of time, patching and commits could be passed off. And it seems the
project has been stale for quite some time now.

Re: (no subject)

Hello,

I'm sorry, but this is wrong mail list for you. This mail list is
about centericq, the ncurses IM client. You should find some other
maillist/discussion about installing linux. I recommend you to find
some howtos about SuSE or Debian distribusions. That will be enought
for beginning.

I agree too. Let's say the added contact is a radio station or something
similar. It'll be very anonying for radio stuff to be asked all the
time for authorisation.

(Maybe it's a problem of the remote client to be able to ack
authorisation automatically.)

It is a patch for CVS, and as such, anyone who has write permissions
should be able to put the changes into CVS.

ssl cert invalid - force connect?

Hi,

i'm trying to connect to a jabberd via ssl that has an invalid cert.
Cicq says it's a 404. My user and pass are correct, I'm able to login
with another client (psi) which complains about the invalid cert but
allows to continue.
Is is possible to ignore ssl errors and force connect anyways?

On further investigation it turns out that non-secure login doesn't work
too. The jabber service in question is amessage.de. Anybody else here
with this problem?

I don't know anything about C++, so can't really check if the patches
that are made are good enough for everybody. Because you can imagine
that when someone makes a patch that works for him, it can mean that it
breaks everything for someone else. That's ofcourse not the way it
should be.

True, but you would have to have a other developer that can judge if the
patches are good enough.

That's also correct. Even I have not found time to investigate the issue
of the failing nightly builds any further :-(

ICQ user search broken

Hi,

I'm using centericq 4.21.0 on Debian Sarge (x86), and for some reason
the "Find/add users" function does not work anymore for quite some time
now: After starting the search with "Search/Add" in the "Find/add users"
dialogue, the search returns after a while with "Search results [done]"
and zero resulting contacts, even if I search for a UIN which I know
surely exists.

I also tried to grab the current CVS version to check whether this is
fixed there, but do-cvs-build.centericq.sh stalled on
"* running cicqsync checkout:" in a waitpid() call. The child process
(gettextize) still waits in a "read(0,"... Is the repository server in
some kind of trouble?

Is the ICQ search problem known, any fixes yet, anyone who can reproduce
this? The only threads I found about this were
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.network.centericq/474/focus=480 ,
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.network.centericq/1167/focus=1167 and
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.network.centericq/719/focus=720 , but at
this time (back in 2003) the search still worked well for me, so I'm not
sure whether this is related.

Some additional remarks:

* Creating a directory with the (known) UIN in ~/.centericq/ works as a
workaround, but is not really satisfying (why have a Search/add
feature at all if it does not work?).

* Starting with a clean .centericq directory does not change the
   erratic behaviour.

Kind regards,
 Horst
