Hi,
we are using "jive" jabber server and I have the same problems.. Is it possible
to make this configurable so I don't have to recompile centericq?
thanks

AIM - dead

Is anyone having problems connecting to AIM as of today?

The only way I can connect right now is using the official AIM client. Not
even Trillian will connect. I get an unknown error connecting.

Been impossible to use AIM for -weeks-. Then again, I'm relegated to
4.20.0 because 4.21.0 refuses to compile on Sparc Solaris. Bad host type
in the ./configure stage.

No issue here. I can connect. I don't have any AIM contacts (besides
myself) at this point, but it does connect and I can send myself
messages.

Using 4.21.0

WFM. About a dozen contacts on AIM.
What server (and I guess port) are you using?
Could it be you are being blocked by a firewall?

MSN nicknames encoding problem

Hello guys..

I have a centericq 4.21.0 running in a gentoo box, with:

LC_ALL=pt_BR

and

fromcharset iso-8859-1
tocharset iso-8859-1

When receiving and sending messages, both sides get the correct
characters, but that doesn't happen with nicknames (I only use msn, so
I don't know if that happens with all protocols).

Every special chars in the nicknames appear as a couple of weird
chars, like ã is turn into ã, é into Ã(c), and so on.

Every info file into ~/.centericq/* also shows the weird chars.

I hope someone could help me, cicq is a great app and this sometimes
gets a little bit annoying (but I won't change msn client because of
this, lol) :P

Thank you!
Leandro

spam defence

Hi All and Marry Christmas!

my problem is that the ugly spammers got my icq :(
so now every day I am getting 5-6 messages from
different users that want to look porn :( I can't
stand it any more, so I am looking at solutions.
The pattern of the spam is

line1: * Authorization request : add me to your Contact List
line2: some bulk message
line3: Its me ;) http://xxx.xxxxx.xxx

I have read about the external actions, but there i have
seen only solution for ignoring the http://porn* message.
This doesn't resolve that the user will apear in my screen.
So i am thinking is it possible to look at the first three
messages and if they have some defined pattern to ingore
the user, but i don't want to ignore all the unknown users.
Is it possible? If we do something like this,
it will be great for the whole centericq community:)

Open bsd support? new build?.....

Hi 2 quick questions. How long till a new release it’s been around 3 months already and I’m hoping a new build will have support for open bsd. It segfaults every time. If centericq dev’s need an account on an open bsd system to debug the people at silenceisdefeat.org are willing to set you up one. If you need one just let me know. Thanks.
