codepage of incoming icq messages

Hello,

I have a problem with the incoming icq messages in cicq containing
hungarian characters with accents.

as I communicate with people using cicq or "ICQ Lite", all the accents
transfer as they should. In this case, the message is sent using
ISO-8859-2 character coding.

As soon as someone using the official ICQ client (ie. not the LIte
version) tries to send me a message containing one of the o" or u"
characters, his client sends the message in UTF8, and in cicq nothing
appears. (There are other characters with accents in hungarian, eg. a',
e', which transfer correctly (ie in ISO-8859-2) when neither the cited o"
nor the u" appears in the message.)

To be more precise, I'm using cicq 4.9.12 in Debian testing (sarge) (deb
pkg: Version: 4.9.12-3), and Codepage conversion is set to None.

My default Locale is hu_HU ISO-8859-2, but using the locale
hu_HU.UTF-8 UTF-8 the same holds.

Could you give me a hint how to solve this problem?

Thanx,

Jozsef MARTON

Re: For users of MSN.

Yes, I can confirm that I have exactly the same problem.

Unfortunatly it didn't work for all my users, but most of them.

Re: For users of MSN.

same here, got around by choosing 'cicq config options'->'arrange contacts into
groups'->'mode1' or 'mode2' After adding a contact i switch it back to no.
Also i can add users in some other msn client, it works in cicq then.

btw about this cpu consumption problem (
http://mailman.linuxpl.org/pipermail/cicq/2004-May/001068.html ). When i talk
with 2 or more person parallel, then this happens soon enough.

multiple-recipient-dialog is not showing all available contacts

Hi there !

Yesterday I realized, that I cannot select some of my contacts in
the multiple-recipient-dialog (CTRL+P), because they are simply not
showing up in that dialog.

I have 3 icq-contacts, that do not show up in the MRD. I believe,
those 3 icq-contacts only have in common, that I added them with
4.9.11 or 4.9.12; all my other icq-contacts are older, i think.

I have not compared those 3 contacts' info files to my older
contacts yet, because at first look I think those files aren't meant
to be "human-readable"...

Anyone else having this problem ?

I'm using Aaron Haviland's debian package from debian.parsed.net,
version 20040607-1 (4.9.12 nightly built from CVS).

Re: multiple-recipient-dialog is not showing all available contacts

hi,
I have about 300 contacts in my CL and only 21 of them are shown in
multiple-recipient-dialog.

I think there clould be some interaction with server-side CL. When I
install a new ICQ client (with support SSCL) I can see only these 21
contacts, the others are probably stored only locally and thus not shown
in MRD.

Is there possibility to force centericq upload CL to the server?

thanks

Hui, now there that are a lot of contacts not showing up. Have you
added those many contacts recently ? Let's say with a centericq of
version 4.9.11 or 4.9.12 ??

I don't believe so... since of my 100 icq contacts or so only about
20 show up in a SSCL-based icq clients (i.e. gaim), but only 3 do
not show up in the MRD.

> Is there possibility to force centericq upload CL to the server?

There was a function that did that, but it was removed, because it
didn't work properly and raised many questions on why not (never
answered; best guess was because of auth-requiring contacts were
added without requesting auth..).

I've 4.9.12, but this problem takes much longer (I never need this
function, so I don't care about it). Almost all contacts were added to
centericq continuously during last 18 months.

I hope this help

Account Manager Only Shows ICQ

Hello. I recently discovered centericq and am excited to give it a
try. I am running FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE-p8 and decided to install the
application using FreeBSD ports. I was able to easily compile and
install centericq by running make install from
/usr/ports/net/centericq. I now have centericq-4.9.12 installed.

When I run centericq, the account manager only shows a listing for the
ICQ protocol. Running centericq -p irc or centericq -p aim does not
seam to make any difference. I do not get any errors when I try the
various -p options listed in the --help. The README did not seam to
cover my problem. Any advice on getting a full listing of protocols in
the account manager would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Victor.

How did you compile CenterICQ? If you compile from FreeBSD ports, by
default only ICQ protocol is enabled, try compiling with -DWITH_MSN and
so on, check the Makefile for the other protocols.
