It is a Cacti proprietary RRDcache mechanism that allows Cacti to scale out to several thousands of hosts
and hundreds of thousands of RRDfiles.

It's caching mechanism is MySQL based to allow the cache to survive a reboot.

In addition, it also caches your graphs to reduce system load.

I upgraded my boost to 2.0, it would work for a little then I would get

This is definitely a corner case.  Run the following "select min(local_data_id) from poller_output_boost"

It should always return a number unless the table is empty.
