CLI: remove_device.php ??

Hi, does anybody know if there is (or plans to have) a remove_device.php 
CLI equivalent to the CLI tool add_device.php? If not I will probably 
create one. I am willing to contribute it if there is interest.

I've done that, and creating proper templates is great, thanks!

However, I still have the same problem. Using the newly created  
template works for one host but not the other.

One firewall graphs fine and the other fails to get any values.

Now, the only difference in the value is the size of one compared to  
the other:

joe <at> ns-io0-mgmt1:~$ snmpwalk   -mall -v2c -c mypassword ns-gs0-fw1 . 
1.3.6.1.4.1.64512.1.4.4.0
OPENBSD-PF-MIB::ipPktsInPass.0 = Counter64: 772750197
joe <at> ns-io0-mgmt1:~$ snmpwalk   -mall -v2c -c mypassword ns-gs0-fw2 . 
1.3.6.1.4.1.64512.1.4.4.0
OPENBSD-PF-MIB::ipPktsInPass.0 = Counter64: 4773199

The smaller number one graphs ok, the larger fails.

Any pointers how to get both to work?

No plans currently, because we did not see a need, yet.
When deleting a host, do you assume to delete all related data sources and 
graphs as well?
Code should be taken mostly from hosts.php.

Hi Reinhard, thanx for the quick reply and the location to find the 
necessary code. With the wider spread use of Amazons EC2 the reality of 
servers disappearing completely is there. This is what prompted me to 
query about the remove script. It won't take me long to do, and Morph 
Labs has already given me the go ahead to contribute it.  I'll keep you 
all posted.

How do I feed Cacti NaN w/o warnings

Hi all,

We are monitoring several statistics from an application's logfile.  When that
application is down, i.e. the data in the log file is older than 10 mins, I want
to return a NaN value.  When I do this, I see warnings in the cacti log file:

6/30/2008 02:39:05 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[2] DS[112] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid.  Partial
Result: ...

I've tried returning an empty string, "nan" and "NaN".  Is there anyway to 
avoid getting this warning in the log?  That is how do I properly return a
NaN value?  I'm polling every minute, so I'd like to avoid these messages
if possible.

My Polling Log Level is set to "LOW - Statistics and Errors", which I would 
like to continue to log.  Poller Warnings is not selected in the Poller 
Syslog/EventLog Selection.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Cacti Plugin Architecture and non-standard RRD databases

Greetings,

As the Cacti Roadmap says that Cacti 0.8.8 (to be release end of 3rd Quarter
2008) will have as Major Feature the Inclusion of Plugin Architecture, I'd
like to ask if if will be the very same PA available at cactiusers.org and
if there is any Cacti.net official documentation - even if it's a work in
progress - for plugin development.

Another request is for the recommended way to make changes in creation
parameters for the RRD databases. I've believe that the lib/rrd.php should
be the way to accomplish this. I need to have a very standard way - in Cacti
terms - to create statistics with non-cacti-standard RRD files coexisting
with regular Cacti statistics in the same Cacti installation.

Which version of spine are you running?
Is cmd.php failing as well?
I already had the same request and I'm quite sure it was added lately.

Jimmy Conners is the author of the PIA. He's member of The Cacti Group and has 
already integrated PIA into current cacti/branches/main trunk at SVN. There will 
be no seperate PIA, then.
Documentation is quite an issue. I've not found any time for it, yet. 
Especially, PIA2.x added a new way to do things. Currently, you'll have to learn 
by reading other plugins, especially THOLD.
With 088, we WILL have a documentation, hopefully a good one ... ;-)

Please be more verbose. Currently, it is already possible to use "external" rrd 
files.
