Problems discovering interfaces of a RS8600-Switch

Hello,

I tried to add a SNMP enabled device to cacti, but the script runs into
a timeout.

Is there a possibility to restrict cacti only to discover physical
interfaces and not to retrieve the whole list of virtual interfaces of
the Riverstone switch? I'm not really a fan of adding all the devices by
hand :-)

Thanks,

Falk

Re: Problems discovering interfaces of a RS8600-Switch

Are you able to poll it via SNMP from anywhere else? Essentially, can
you confirm that polling of the device via SNMP is working?

Troubles with dnsResponseTimeLoop.pl script

Hi

First post to this list. Anyway i'm using dnsResponseTimeLoop.pl
script from Cacti forum to get DNS response times form Bind8
nameserver. The problem is that script seems to give out data but
graphs in Cacti show "nan" values.

This is script output:

/usr/bin/perl /srv/www/htdocs/cacti/scripts/dnsResponseTimeLoop.pl -s
194.204.0.1 -h www.uninet.ee -t 9 -i 10 -r -d 10
min:380 median:380 avg:380 max:380 iter:1

In my cacti.log i get following:

12/11/2006 07:55:46 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[31] ERROR: The POPEN
timed out
12/11/2006 07:55:46 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[31] DS[2167] WARNING:
Result from SCRIPT not valid. Partial Result: ...

Does anybody have similar problem or what could be the solution?

Thanks in advance,
Marek

Yes, SNMP is working. If I try the command snmpwalk from the cli
everything works fine - the next 20 minutes I can see MIBs scrolling up
the screen :-)

How to add interfaces to a device without snmp-walk?

Hello,

as already mentioned I have some problems with discovering the
interfaces of a Riverstone 8600 switch with the snmp walk method. I
can't find a solution for this problem, so I'm looking for an
alternative method to reach my goal.

I do know the OIDs of the interfaces I want to graph via cacti. Is there
any possibilty to give cacti this interface list without doing a snmp walk?

Regards,

Falk

Weird snmp problem

I have several gentoo servers running snmp on them. I am able to poll
all of them seperatly when I add them into cacti it pics up there
server correctly with the differnet hosts.

When I add the hosts with only there own snmp all of the hosts display
precicly the same grph. Witch is verry weird.

What am I doing wrong.
