Re: Cacti and switch ports

The easy way to do this is as follows. First add the device to your
Cacti setup. Once in, goto Console then Devices. Select your device
and under Associated Data Queries add SNMP-Interface Statistics. This
will snmpwalk your device for all the known interfaces, for which you
can then add graphs for each. Once you add it, you will see something
like this:

Data Query Name Debugging Re-Index Method
         Status
SNMP - Interface Statistics (Verbose Query) Uptime Goes Backwards
	Success [1629 Items, 203 Rows]

Once that is done, you click on Create Graphs for This Host and you
can then select each interface you want to graph. This is assuming it
is an SNMP enabled device.

Apache 2 Template failing

I'm trying to use this template on Cacti 0.8.6h on Debian Sarge. I've
used various other templates but this one gives me the following error
when trying to import;

Notice: Undefined index: import_file in
/var/www/cacti/templates_import.php on line 56

Notice: Undefined index: import_file in
/var/www/cacti/templates_import.php on line 56

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by
(output started at /var/www/cacti/templates_import.php:56) in
/var/www/cacti/templates_import.php on line 62

I've tried importing using the file as well as importing by pasting in
the text, neither works.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

(no subject)

Hi,

Might be a dumb question, but I need to clarify.

When I view my graphs, on the left side, say for Error/Sec, it shows the
units as a number like "1.0 m". What is the "m"(lowercase) for? How about
"M"(uppercase), I assume Megabits when measuring bits/sec or Megabytes when
measuring disk space. I also assume "G" for Gig. What I am not sure about
is the lowercase "m" and lowercase "u" that is showing in the graphing of
errors.

Thank you.

Cheers,
Dana_H

Blank graphs - read faq...

I have just setup cacti on freebsd and when I setup hosts my graphs are
blank. I have a problem with my cron I believe, but I have run "php
/usr/home/www/kishmish.com/httpdocs/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1"
as cactiuser, so the ownership on the .rrd files is correct.

What else can I do to troubleshoot this?

Many thanks!

Re: Blank graphs - read faq...

Make sure that your cron has the full path to php (/usr/local/bin/php)
and not just php

Graphs not showing as created

I have just created a new set of data sources and graph templates that use them.

I can go into devices and create the graphs no problem, and the data
seems to be gathering and graphing correctly. However, when I go back
into 'Create graphs for this host' the graph template is not listed as
having been created, and I am able to create the same graph for a
single device over and over again.

Any ideas why this might be? I'm new to creating my own data sources
and graphs in Cacti so if there is any more information I can give
that might be useful to fix this please let me know.

I am running Cacti 0.8.6h (Ubuntu dapper) with all the current patches applied.

Thanks,
Ras

Spikes are usually caused by rebooting equipment, failovers, etc. Ways to
mitigate / avoid the issue:

- Set reasonable maximums on graphs. For example a connection counter on a
load balancer handling 10k connections per minutes does not need to graph up
to 6G
- Use SNMP version 2c and 64 bits counters on traffic graphs where possible
