Get a 1 minute granularity on rras and graphs

Hi,

I am wondering how to get a 1 minute step on my rras and graphs and how to
do it cleanly in cacti.

Anyone has a hint ?

Vincent.

Re: Cacti, Roxen, and Windows

Yes, but that does not seem to be the problem. I can only see the
"test-Database" using account cactiuser. Looks like there is
something wrong with the privileges after doing

mysqladmin -u root -h localhost create cacti
mysql -u root -h localhost cacti < cacti.sql
mysql -u root -h localhost mysql
 >GRANT ALL ON cacti.* TO cactiuser IDENTIFIED BY 'cactiuser';
 >flush privileges;
 >quit
mysql -u cactiuser -h localhost -pcactiuser
ERROR 1045: Access denied for user:
'cactiuser <at> localhost' (Using password: YES)

Or is MySQL broken here?

Yes, I would do so here too, but I want to move the MySQL-DB after
finishing the tests.

Looking for a tool to build ASCII report from RRD databases (made by CACTI)

Looking for a tool to build ASCII report from RRD databases (MADE BY CACTI)
===================================================

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to represents some similar NAGIOS monthly
availability reports from a tool based on RRD.
RRD because I'm about to use CACTI to make performance measures of
network devices and services availability.

Does anybody knows a tool that does similar things ? A tool that would
be based therefore on RRD.

In other words, I'm looking for a way to build monthly ASCII statistics
reports from RRD.
    My idea would be :
         - select many RRD database (and data sources)
         - precise a period time for the report
         - precise one values
         - for datasource in each RRD database have ASCII reports
              - % of time (in the selected period) the data source has an
unknown value
              - % of time (in the selected period) the data source is below
the specified value
              - % of time (in the selected period) the data source is above
the specified value

In other words, I would like to have report like that (if value is 0 or1
for instance)

New User Questions

I am have set-up cacti on a new Apple Xserve running 10.3.3 Server. I have cacti generating a few graphs and
all is well with them.

I would like to graph both CPU usage on a single graph. I know the OID of both processors on the system - these do
not match the
template CPU usage OID and these give resulting cmd.php errors when run (No Such Object...).

I am trying to figure out how to set this up manualy from scratch but the docs leave me a little fuzzy as how to do
this via the
templates. Any help for a newbie would be greatly apreciated.

Here is another new graph related question. Along the same lines I am looking at a netcraft style uptime
chart. I simply want to
plot uptime over time, in days, and perhaps add comments for reboots (i.e. a solid vertical line with a
comment "software update"
etc). Again I have the OID for the data - just not sure where to start.

Thanks,

Dan

Can't connect to database ...

Hi!

With Windows I am given the error:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't create TCP/IP socket (10106) in
C:\HOME\xch4008\clustergr03\cacti\lib\adodb\drivers\adodb-mysql.inc.php
on line 318

Cannot connect to MySQL server on 'localhost'. Please make sure you
have specified a valid MySQL database name in 'include/config.php'.

But trying the whole with mysql:
C:\HOME\xch4008>mysql -ucactiuser -pcactiuser -hlocalhost cacti
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 8 to server version: 4.0.20a-nt

Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.

mysql>

Works. Any idea what is wrong here?

Statistics report table in Cacti

Statistics report table in Cacti
=====================
Hello I'd like to have a "statistics report table in Cacti".
Has anobody already work on such an add-on for Cacti ?

My idea is the following.
For the time I don't have time to make any implementation, but if someone
can help me I will be great.

Format of report
============
Selection period: YYYY MM DD HH:MM:SS to YYYY MM DD HH:MM:SS
                                                      min average
max
graph_name1 legend_curve_11 x x x
graph_name1 legend_curve_12 x x x
....
graph_name2 legend_curve_21 x x x
graph_name2 legend_curve_22 x x x
graph_name2 legend_curve_23 x x x

where
-The graph1 has a name "graph_name1". On this graph we have 2 curves
displayed. The legend of the fisrt one is legend_curve_11
The legend of the second one is legend_curve_12
-The graph2 has a name "graph_name2". On this graph we have 3 curves
displayed. The legend of the fisrt one is legend_curve_21
The legend of the second one is legend_curve_22, the third one is
legend_curve_23

No, MySQL isn't broken (or not really). There is only one problem:
MySQL on Windows has two users " <at> build" and " <at> localhost". You may
add users at will. Since these are queried before the new users, and
an empty username matches all users, the new users only have the

Login problems

Hi there,

I've got 2 problems after I've tried to setup a new Cacti version(V0.85a) beside my current V0.82a.
The old version and the new version have a seperate database.

1.
I cannot login to my old Cacti V0.82a anymore, when I login get the message:

CANNOT FIND GUEST USER: guest

I've resetted the password to the standard: admin/admin with the SQL-statement but i still get this error-message.
When I type wrong credentials I get the following error-message:
Invalid User Name/Password Please Retype:

I've removed the guest-account in the past(2 months ago), but didn't had any problems with this.

2.
I cannot login to the new Cacti anymore, 12 hours ago there were no problems, but now It doesn't work anymore.
When the correct credentials are typed in (admin/admin) it just reloads the login-page wothout any error-messages.
When I type wrong credentials I (also) get the following error-message:
Invalid User Name/Password Please Retype:

After a new install with a new fresh database etc. it still doesn't work.

I think I've changed something that causes the problems, but I cannot find out what!
Thanks in advance for your help.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Danny van den Houwen

Many Servers

Hi,

I intend to use cacti to many servers monitoring. If I'd use only SNMP
to do this, it would be easy, because the monitoring dedicated server
could take data from the other servers. Otherwise, there are many
information data that I need and can't be colected by SNMP, but only
by local scripts on each machine.

I thought to run the cmd.php on each server to colect data through local
scripts and send them to data base on mysql server. After this, the
monitoring server could read those data and plotate the graphics of
other servers.

I'd like to know if this is possible to use cacti this way and if
there is any documentation about this, because in the original
documentation I didn't find anything specific about that.

Best regards,

Alberto Bengoa
