Re: Using NZB files

My understanding is

1 Download a nzb file
2 import into BNR (File/import) this puts all the
files into the queue tab.
3. Delete the files you expect to not want to download
(ie .sfv, par files, par2 files etc)
4 open your server(s) to download.

Sounds too good to be true!!!

I maybe wrong and stand to be corrected.

I was all set to correct you John because a few days ago I did exactly
what you suggested and nothing happened! So I just tried it again now,
but instead of putting just the file name in the filename field, and
the directory in the directory field, I put the directory AND file
name (i.e. fully qualified file name) in the filename field - and it
worked!

Can someone explain though, why there are Directory and Filename
fields? Thanks.

Re: Using NZB files

Oh, I must add to my previous message that the first time I didn't
tick the Try Downloading by Msg-ID when Art-ID unknown on Art-ID
servers, the successful time I did. I wonder if that made the
difference.

I'd still like to understand why there are Directory and Filename
fields when it seems the fully qualified file name can go in the
filename field.

Re: Using NZB files

My apologies for the multiple posts on this subject. I think I've
discerned what the Filename and Directory fields are for. The filename
should be fully qualified as it specifies where the NZB file is, the
Directory is the *target* Directory for the downloads.

The Filename field is where you specify the NZB file that you want to import. The Directory field is where you
specify the directory in which to store the files listed inside the NZB once they have been downloaded.

BNR2 sorting articals problem (crash)

Has anyone else had the problem with the sorting of articals. When I
open up a newsgroup after dling new headers I get sorting articals
and then nothing happens?

If I click on any part of BNR2 after I click on the newsgroup I get
Not Responding and I have to close down the program.

I'm using 0.14.2.442

I've also noticed that my CPU usage hits 100% when I try to open a
newsgroup..... before try to open a newsgroup it's down at 0% or so

any one got any ideas?

Any ideas why BNR3 freezes my PC ??

I am currently running two versions of BNR3 with about 8 NGs on each both
using the same server for header downloads.

I am using a PC with an ASUS P4PE mobo. Win2K SP4, 512 meg Ram.

The problem I have I also had with BNR2. When the DB gets beyond 200Meg
and I power on the PC for the first time in a day , after about 15 to 30
minutes the PC just slows down to a halt. I have to hit the power
switch to shut down and restart. When I restart all is OK until the next
day or two. My databases sizes are 350Meg and 450Meg

I thought the problem may have been a cold PC problem so I loaded up a
video encoding program and encoded a DV file to DVD. 98% CPU of r two
hours no problem with the PC.

I loaded BNR3 again and no problem.

However when I refreshed a NG that had not been refreshed for nearly a
month. Bang!! At 30% of header download the system slowed and then froze.
Went out and left it for the rest of the afternoon but still the same
state when I arrived home . Only the mouse would work.. The PC prior to
this had been running for 24 hours and had been downloading headers fine
over this period.

Any one gotten any ideas?? BNR is the only program to do this.. Agent works
fine..

Regards,

Have you tried these two commands on the DB to compact it?

sqlite msgdb.bnr "vacuum;"
sqlite grpdb.bnr "vacuum;"

Not sure that would do anything, but...
