My Terrible Trip : Martin Weitzman

Hope you get this message on time, This message is coming to you with great depression due to my state of
discomfort. Traveled on a short trip with my family to Madrid,Spain but unfortunately we got mugged and
robbed at gun point on our way to the hotel where we stayed. All cash, credit cards and few other valuables
were taken away.

We've been to the embassy and the police here and they have done the best they can. Presently, we are having
some problem sorting our bills here as we need to settle every outstanding before we can return as our
return flight leaves in few hours. I am contacting you to ask for a short loan of €1,500 Euro(About $1,950
USD) to settle our bills which I will refund immediately I get my family back home safely. Please let me know
if you can help.

Reinstall

I have been using BNR2 for a good number of years. Unfortunately I recently 
had a major hard disk failure and had to reinstall all my programs including
BNR and WindowsXP. After I downloaded all the newsgroups population I then 
subscribed to several newsgroups with no problems. I then downloaded a large
number of headers but not nearly all (I'm still on dial-up) and accessed them
successfully. Now my problem: After turning off my system and then (the next day) starting it again the list
of subscribed groups was there, however,
their contents were gone. There were zero headers in each group. Did I miss
or miss set some control parameter?

BNR3

I have been using BNR for a good number of years. I assume I have been using
BNR2 (the original downloaded file - BNR2beta14.7.exe).
How do I upgrade to BNR3?

Just use a proxy, like stunnel, and point BNR to that.  Takes a little to set up, but not much, and it works very
well.  You just point stunnel to the newsserver and point BNR to the proxy.

I don't suppose there is some hidden menu with this feature in BNR2 or 3??

I've seen the error your describing come from, running out of news server quota and the article being
deleted on server side incorrectly side.  Also losing excessive packets during download can also cause
this, don't use Clear, when using BNR.

kill file question

I love my bnr2 on Linux and use it all the time. recently people have started 
spamming certain groups with thousand of small file nicely sent usn a single 
sender name so I added that name to a kill file entry.

Now I get all those emails colored in bright red, I would be most happy if that 
stuff just did ot show up at all. the stuff i want is 5000 to a single message I 
care to see, but the level of noise is very hard to wade through, it there a 
setting I have not managed to find yet that can hide all that noise.

thank for the great program, i could never change to use anything else so I am 
stuck with Latest bnr2 on linux.

ArticleIDs gone missing

I was downloading a 78 part .rar file at the back end of last week and got from
HIGHWAYMEN_ONTHEROAD.part01.rar up to HIGHWAYMEN_ONTHEROAD.part47.rar.001-049 when it quit on me.

The queue showed all the unloaded parts but the ArticleIDs column was blank. Anytime it's happened before,
I just deleted the the outstanding items, re-loaded the .nzb file and carried on.

This time around though, nothing changes, the ArticleIDs column stays blank. I created a new .nzb file,
containing just the parts I haven't got yet but still the ArticleIDs column stays blank.

I tried deleting the various databases but that didn't change anything so I did a completely fresh install
of BNR3 and imported a .nzb file that had worked perfectly last week - still the ArticleIDs column stays
blank. I then did a fresh install of BNR2 - same thing.

I've got two different NSPs so they can't be the cause.

I'm assuming it must be something wrong wrong with the PC (running Windows XP SP3) but it was running only
BNR3 at the time, nothing else apart from F-Secure Internet Security 2010.

Has anybody got any ideas please?
