Re: Moogfest Review==from Marilyn

Ah ha...I did a quick scan in my spam folder and there it was....your
review.....I kind of felt like we were back at UCLA....the program seemed like
it was short...How long was the concert? How many people in the auditorium or
concert hall?....Did you listen to any other bands?

When you say "this is the second time you missed out on meeting someone who has
given you great musical memories", was UCLA the other time? I remember how we
walked down the wrong path and had we gone up through the other way we would
have gotten to meet the group...Oh well, that's fate.....marilyn

The concert was two hours long... The maximum allowed for any act at the festival.

One of the requirements of the Moogfest was to have a wrist band which
electronically allowed you to enter the different venues by scanner. I
headed for the Civic Center to get mine and that’s where, after more than a
dozen years of chatting online, I got to meet Michael Jean. Even though I
had seen his picture, he was much taller than I had expected. He had
convinced his friend, Steve, to fly out from California for the shows. It’s
always great to meet another Tangerine Dream fan so we chatted merrily while
being inspected and patted down by security. I never totally figured out
what they were looking for although I suspected they didn’t want anyone
bringing food and drinks in what with all the vendors available inside.

Once we got in we began to meet other fans. The man who had been first in
line and I suddenly began to realize we had both met before at the 2008 Los
Angeles concert. Mike had brought his son, Dan, with him this time,

RE: Moogfest Review==from Marilyn

Well, here you are again! I just posted a LinkedIn to you.

The concert lasted a little over two hours; yes, shorter than LA. That one went three hours. Moogfest was
like a conveyor belt of acts with just so much time allotted to each group, tear down, put up next act, off we
go, okay you're done, go now. There were several venues and all of them were in a constant state of flux for
three days with over 70 acts. Since I took no notes to speak of, it's almost impossible for me now to remember
where we went, who we saw, when, etc. There were probably 1,500 in the venue for TD; people could wander in
and out from venue to venue, almost no one was sitting down continuously. I probably saw about fifteen acts
in all, most them just in pieces before running to another venue. I didn't care for many of them. For me the
highlight was TD, period. Yes, UCLA was the other time I missed out on meeting the group and I can't tell you
how disappointed I was once again, but what can you do? Maybe next time. They seem to be planning a Canadian
tour for next year and maybe they'll include the States again. We'll have to plan to get together. Wish you
had come this time, too. It was exciting! 8-Dell

You would have had a blast, and maybe made some new musical contacts too. There were about 70 acts
altogether. Think about going next year. This is going to be an ongoing event it would seem. I saved a
Moogfest flyer for you. Contact me off list with your new address. 8-Dell

Re: current hip label releases new berlin school album

this is great news indeed!

that track is totally vintage berlin school style. could have easily come off a gottsching album.
gottsching would have used warm harmonic progressions though. that's the difference.

if memory serves me right, I've contacted kranky about releasing an album of mine, but they weren't
interested... maybe I should try again.

New reviews on Synth&Sequences (Week of December 5th, 2011)

Hello everybody. November saw 19 chronicles posted on Synth & Sequences, which is lot of writing and
reading. Reviews are written in French and English, which explains why it could be long before a CD gets
reviewed. So, those who are expecting a review don't be discouraged because it's taking time. I'll do it
for sure and I'll try to do it before the end of the year. Thanks for your understanding.
The last 2 weeks mark a good turn in S&S as the Blog reached the spot of 80,000 hits. Thanks to all of you.

In Apollo, Synth NL released his more completed work with structures at once complex and melodious which
bring us so near the boundaries of Jarre's Rendez-Vous:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2011/11/synthnl-apollo-2011.html

After hearing Apollo, I had the urge need to listen to Jarre's Rendez-Vous:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2011/11/jean-michel-jarre-rendez-vous-1986.html

Can Atilla is a great unknown EM artist. His latest album on Groove; Hi-Story is among the nicest surprises
this year:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2011/11/can-atilla-hi-story-2011_29.html

And his Live album, back in 2003 is among my all time melodious EM opus. There are jewels on this album which I
strongly recommend:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2011/11/can-atilla-live-2003.html

The Rise of the Darkness from Syndromeda is as good as it's dark and progressive. This is great EM like the
early days or mid 70's:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2011/12/syndromeda-rise-of-darkness-2011.html

While Mind TRIPS, always from Danny Budts' Syndromeda is an unknown masterpiece of contemporary EM. I
rated as masterpiece:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2011/12/syndromeda-mind-trips-1997.html

Coming soon on Synth&Sequences, reviews of the latest VOID, which is outstanding, new Ron Boots, Robert

Re: Tangerine Tree Availability

I wonder - Did all the covers ever get finished? I have a few blank white temporary covers still for late in the
tangerine leaves series, occasionally do searches, trolling in one here or there..
