Re: The Keep on TV

I actually never ever liked that movie, nor the use of the music
in it. The music itself however is superb...

Website tracking our conversations

I was searching for "Jerome Froese" on Google and I found a link to this site:

http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.music.tangerine-dream/51401

which shows some of our conversation threads here on the group.

Now, I don't know about everyone here, but I post some pretty serious shit on some of these Yahoo groups, and I
don't like the idea that anyone can just happen to search a string and see these conversations plastered
elsewhere on the net.

Is there anything we can do about this? Whether by contacting the site, or as a control on the Yahoogroups
page ... hell, I'm in several groups, talking about a lot of things that I wouldn't want just any person
being able to Google. Yeah, I know there's always some level of risk when it comes to the internet, but this
really isn't cool IMO.

They actually seem to have an archive of every word posted here, and as soon as I sent that last message, it
went up there as well.

RE: Website tracking our conversations

On the day wikilieaks has posted a list of every facility deemed critical to
the US government, I suspect any concerns about what people may have posted
about Tangerine Dream will be pretty far down the "to do" list. :)

I suspect the group is configured to have messages viewable on the yahoo
website without being a group member. Therefore anyone can read them,
including bots.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to watch
the Netflix stream of The Keep, and to report back to us
whether there is any footage there that is not on the VHS or
Laserdisc release of The Keep.
This message will self-destruct in 10 seconds.

This is true; it is. I don't know if changing this would remove anything from Gmane, but it might prevent
other sites from archiving our messages.

I now wonder how many groups are set up this way; some of them discuss some pretty sensitive subjects, and IMO
should not be searchable by merely a Google keyword.

Who here currently would be in the best position to do this?

You guys do understand my concerns, I hope...

It's not an end-of-the-world type of thing, but if someone just ran a casual search on something closely
associated with you, what would they find? Perhaps I should change my handle so that a search pulls up my
website and not scattered messages on various topics that were meant for selected groups and may not
present the best face to the public. I don't like the fact that we need any level of privacy, but I am not blind
to the fact that we do. People sign up for this group because of a common interest; we shouldn't have to watch
