Tonight's concert

Hi,

Just arrived in and am a little surprised to see no comments yet! There
were enough people with BlackBerrys in the audience that I thought some
eager spark would post something before now! ;-)

I would propose that we dub this concert "The Pudelnass concert"!
(That's German for "soaking wet" or "drowned rat") The English weather
conspired to make certain that everyone was drenched beforehand!

Great show, with a few 'surprise' tracks, most notably the final encore
piece - Cloudburst Flight!!!!

Although the venue was larger than the Astoria, the ground floor was
level, so those of us that are (just) shorter than 6' foot in height
ended up with neck-ache trying to see past those that were taller...
(and those with upstairs seats - could you see the band through the lasers?)

Cheers,
Kev

Surely 'the cloudburst concert' would be more appropriate? ;-)

RE: Tonight's concert

That was a fantastic concert, thankfully worth queuing in torrential rain for ages for. That was possibly
the most agressive merchandise stall queuing I've ever seen, rugby prop forward skills were required
there to get in and out. Then again they were selling The Keep for only £18, and lots of older EPs like Ca Va,
Ca Marche, Ca Ira Encore

The new EP for the concerts is called Choice, with Love on a Real Train 2008 (by Thorsten), Scrapyard 2008 (by
Edgar) and Traditional number Sally's Garden (by Linda Spa).
Stunning start and end to the concert, I was hoping they'd play Trauma, and they started with it. Regarding
the end, the penny didn't drop at first when Bernhard handed an acoustic guitar over into Edgar's Keyboard
area.... one strummed chord later and the place erupted. Edgar and Thorsten looked a bit squashed on the
stage, but then about a third of the stage was taken up by Iris' drums. Linda looked a bit bored for much of the
concert, being mostly behind the keyboards at the back.

My attempt at a tracklisting for the evening: The Tangram ones are quite possibly wrong. Contrary to
adverts, I heard nothing from Stratosfear. Then again, they did play Cloudburst Flight, so we can't
really complain.
1. Trauma2. Serpent Magique3. Tangram: Terra Coda?4. No Man's Land5. Unknown Sax (Sally's Garden?)6.
Hyperborea Part Two7. Sphinx Lightning Part One8. Carmel Calif9. Leviathan (complete with excited yell
at the start from Colin at the bar)10. Tangram: Dragon In The House?11. Edgar's Guitar Solo (Blue
Bridge?)(Edgar's comical - and surprisingly fast - running back to the keyboards for...)12. Fire On The
Mountain13. Tangram: Leaving The Masters For Good?14. Cinnamon Road15. Hunter Shot By A Yellow
Rabbit16. Unknown Sax (maybe this one is Sally's Garden)17. Tangram: Point Of No Return?18. Sphinx
Lightning Part 219. Going West20. Tangram: Dream Puzzle?21. Loved By The Sun22. Love On A Real Train23. LA
Streethawk24. Lord Of The Ants?25. One Night In Space26. Unknown song that sounded a bit like "Tomorrow
Never Knows" by The Beatles27. Cloudburst Flight

Re: Tonight's concert

It was great seeing everybody but i'm sorry to say that the overall experience left me very disappointed,
especially after the fantastic SBE 2005/Astoria 2007 gigs.

The management of the TDOC was appalling - the early entry went awry and I had no pre-warned information
about the after show meet.  Clearly people did get to see Edgar.
I felt sorry for the two merch sales people who were obviously overwhelmed by the initial crowd.  What
didn't help was that they tended to serve anyone directly in their line of sight. (no different from London
bar staff as it goes lol!)

The sound mix was horrible.  I was standing next to the mixing desk, for the record.  For a synthesiser
group, all I could heard for the main part was guitars and percussion. The synth sounds were too low under
everything else.  This was not just my opinion, so i guess it wasn't just my hearing.

I suffered until one of the final encores - One Night In Space(?) before I called it a night. I couldn't take
anymore.  I didn't feel like waiting for a slim chance to see Edgar before missing my train.

On the plus side, a varied set. I don't recall any Stratosphere unless I didn't recognise a track with all the
extra production thrown in.  The new EP is excellent (I spy copies already on ebay) and I got a chance to get
the Dream Dice bonus CD; a nice addition to my collection.

Needless to say that I won't be posting these views on the TD official forum.  Photos will turn up at some
point on my Facebook and myspace accounts.

Re: Tonight's concert

Great pics Andrew.
Didn't get to the pre-concert meeting due to trains and the fact that
the hotel was a bit further away from the venue than we thought.

Did get to see all the band after the gig though!

Plus, totally agree with the earlier comments about the merch stall -
they really needed an extra person as there were so many fans eager to
part with their cash.
