Re: The Soldier Japanese DVD

Hey Jeffrey. I received my Strange Behavior DVD in the maiil today.
It's a 2003 edition put out by Elite Entertainment, catalog #EE2342.
It sounds pretty good. I haven't ran it through my stereo yet but it
does sound good. Unfortunately, it sounds like most of the tracks
are only excerpts, so all of them are quite short but it's the
closest thing to having an official release of the soundtrack. Also,
for some reason they also included the rock/pop songs from the film.
Only a couple of them fortunately. You can usually find an
inexpensive copy of this disc online fairly easily.

Preparing For Eindhoven

Ladies & Gents
What are the modes of transport people are taking across the channel
in just under a fortnight? Are folk generally Eurostaring it??

Any drivers out there offering car sharing...or covoiturage as they
say on the Continent! Contributions to petrol of course.

Come on folks...do as the Europeans do...poole resources & ditch those
British values of Me Myself & I..

Joking of course!

Future Rock: 1976

A rare(ish) thing....a paperbook that mentions TD (from 1976)

FUTURE ROCK by David Downing
Panther: 1976, ISBN 586 04308X

Chapter Nine: WHERE NO MOOG HAS GONE BEFORE

Of all the continental groups that have ventured where no moog has
gone before, Tangerine Dream seem to have ventured the furthest. They
started out in 1967, playing material heavily influenced by the West
Coast/acid rock scene. Edgar Froese, the only surviving member of the
band from that time, lists the Floyd, the Airplane, the Doors and
Hendrix, as the models for both their initial music and their move
into less structured territories.

Their first album, Electronic Meditation, contains many reminiscences
of the Floyd's early work, blended in with the anarchic strains of
avant garde jazz. The instrumental line-up then still retained the
conventional basics - guitar, keyboards, percussion, strings, but
with additional instruments like broken glass, a whip and burning
parchment.

Alpha Centauri, which followed in 1971, saw the introduction of the
synthesizers and echo machines which would eventually take over
completely, as the basics were abandoned one by one. The album was
dedicated to `all people who feel obliged to space'; the title track,
which took up all of the second side, being the archetypal `space is
bleak' soundtrack. The flute wanders in and out of electronic astral
landscapes; the organ solemnly rises and falls amidst the sounds of
winds whistling across some distant wasteland.

TDOC

Has anyone else received their TD Online Club card yet? It's a
laminated card with a, presumably, Edgar Froese design on it and a TDI
symbol. I now need to check with the TD site on what it can do, if
anything, yet.

Re: TDOC

Got mine today Richard, TD's admin says that info will be posted 'soon'
on the how, why and when to use it. It's only valid from May, so
chances are there won't be that much news until then (I'd imagine TD
are quite busy gearing up for the Eindhoven gig as well).
