Re: OFF TOPIC: Doulas Adams Cult Clasic

Saw it tonight. Nice effects but... like my wife pointed out, the tv
show did seem better... the tv versions just did not have all the nice
effects... Don't think it does justice to the Book at all really.

Tangerine Dream Phaedra gig...adverts

Good to see TD 'finally' doing some advertising for their june SBE gig,
they've placed ads in the following this week:

Time Out London magazine

the Sunday Times, Culture magazine (May 1, 2005)

Has anyone else seen any others?

I'm always amazed that TD can get 'near-sell out' gigs in London with
so little advertising, usually only about 7 small ads per venue.

Re: Tangerine Dream Phaedra gig...adverts

There is a half-page full-colour advert in the latest edition (June) of
Classic Rock magazine (UK).
It's the same ad that was originally run in the Guardian, when we first
found out about the gig, but
it's a lot bigger and on better quality paper.

No, it's just hard to hear exactly when it fades in. Like the mood of
the tone fades in, then it blends into the sample ... the end of the
sample is much more obvious, but exactly when it fades in is harder to
tell, since it's only like a 3-note sample.

Not complex enouth to be like a melody sample or anything.

Actually, I listened a bit more closely, and it's possible that he
took 2 different samples and ran them together. That would explain
the "this sounds like something familiar from TD..." followed by
the "AHA! I know that sample!"

But thr "AHA!" one is the obvious Tangram sample, I don't know about
the sounds before of similar tone.

Another interesting thing I noticed is that the sample actually plays
again further on in the track (twice I think, just lower in the mix),
and on those I think he actually DID slow them down a bit. :)

Re: Tangram sample - hopefully last post

Ok, just a quick clear-up from the last message. It actually comes in
SEVERAL times later in the track, but he's messing with the sounds a
bit by then. The first one is pretty pure.

OK, I'll shut up about it now...

All I'll say is that somebody had better record this show, because it
could be really good.
