I take no responsibility for the accuracy of the information here as i'm
mostly relaying it from email or typing it in from a flyer (typos *DO*
happen), but will gladly fix any errors or omissions, just let me know!

I am more than happy to add events I chance across online or find flyers
for; but these days even widely promoted events are more likely to get
posted if you take a few minutes to send me the info in an e-mail
formatted in plain text with all info you'd like included (html img tags
for flyers are okay). Time is shorter than ever and the minutes saved
are precious. Thanks for your understanding.

The web page is updated throughout the week, you can check that for the
latest information.

Electronic Music Pioneer Dies

Stockhausen Dies
Brian Eno pays tribute to the pioneering German composer
08 Dec 2007 - Tributes have been pouring in from all over the world for
German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen who died last night aged 79.

Stockhausen was one of Germany's most important and controversial postwar
composers. His electronic compositions were a radical departure from musical
tradition and incorporated influences as varied as the visual arts, the
acoustics of a particular concert hall or psychology.

Kraftwerk, Can, Pink Floyd were influenced by him. I was influenced by him.
I think his affect was more on popular music than on classical music
Brian Eno
Brian Eno is amongst those paying tribute to the avant garde composer:

"It's not party music and it's not easy listening. But he never intended it
to be. One of the things about Stockhausen is that he was very much part of
the european classical tradition and infact had a very interesting group of
students who went on to change the face of popular music."

Stockhausen is cited as an influence by the likes of David Bowie, John
Lennon and Frank Zappa. Eno says why he's been so important to popular music:

"He was a very rigorous, intellectual composer, and infact infected popoular
music through his students.
Kraftwerk, Can, Pink Floyd were influenced by him. I was influenced by him.
So I think his affect was more on popular music than on classical music."

But Brian Eno admits he wouldn't listen to Stockhausen in the same way as
popular music but he says he's grateful for the role he played:

Re: MW.RAVES.Calendar.12.26.07

i'm just wondering where steve-o is. surely there's a world solution that
can fix this terrible discrepancy.

or was it all truly just a dream? did the mw rave scene even really happen,
or was it just a collective hallucination?

I vote for collective hallucination.

It's always best to trip with friends.
