There is a public hearing TOMORROW JULY 18 2007 at Chicago City Hall
on a proposed ordinance that will probably wipe out independent music
promotion in Chicago if it gets enacted.
We need you at CITY HALL, lots of warm bodies, to let them know this
will not happen without a fight!
The (proposed) ordinance follows on the E2 club tragedy by requiring
all events be run by a LICENSED "Event Promoter". The license will
cost you, the promoter, $2,000. And two years later, another $2,000.
Two grand every two years. Can you afford that? No? Too bad then, if
you don't have one the police will shut your party down if you're
inside Chicago city limits. Tough luck.
(( there's plenty more bad stuff in the proposed ordinance, read the
links at the bottom of the email for more detail. ))
But you can fight it!! It is not a law yet. Tomorrow is a public
hearing when you can let Mayor Lord Daley know what you think about
his new license. If you do not attend, your voice will not be heard.
Getting that room PACKED may be our only chance to get this ordinance
modified or killed.
Alderman Natarus says, "We have to put under wraps these people who
promote these dances late at night, these events." Don't let him do it!
Post everywhere, hit the forums, text your friends! We only have a
few hours to organize on this one my friends.
WHERE and WHEN: The hearing is tomorrow WED JULY 18th, 11am in Room
