Re: [mw] Fwd: t1000 flexing... bitter old detroit techno stylee!!

it would seem to me that if trance is primarily about the music with minimal
human physical activity, then there ought to be no trance DJs. instead of
trance DJs it would be live trance PAs. the live trance PA would encompass
human interaction within a purely artistic musical expression.

but if there is an added element of human interaction, such as DJing, then,
given the development of this thread, techno is more physically active and
trance less so.

in my opinion, activity is a tried-and-true catalyst for developing the
genuine 'energy' of a musical performance. activity is exhibited when
playing any genre of music, and is therefore central to all musical
performances - all performances succeed or fail based on the level of
interest. physical energy and activity promote interest.

and before the rebuttal is give that trance music (alone, and without a DJ's
mediation) generates its own energy, let it be clear that the said energy is
only *part* of the overall performance. given the Lego metaphor, its a much
greater action to build a lego city from scratch than to be given
prefabricated buildings and simply place them in a land-(or, in this case
sound-) scape.

since DJing trance, in the belated fashion that i understand this argument,
is mostly programming and smoothly beatmatched segues (this is not to say it
is without skill), trance carries the potential to be genuinely less
exciting than other forms of music.

sorry...i realize this thread is dead, but i got in a bit late.

Re: [mw] The Life Cycle of Cheeze (was: MOMMY I WANT ONE!)

Things aren't looking too good around here these days...to quote the
immortal words of Beck,

"I got a funny feeling that they've got plastic in the afterlife."

Re: [mw] Re: {pb-cle} holy shit this is so funny

Hell yeah that shit was funny....it explains how when you read the flyers
that talk all about transcendental bliss and the harmony of coming together
as a collective love tribe and all that...it really *IS* true. Or wait, is
it all about copping a feel? Now I've got myself all reclitorated.
