Re: Voodoo 3 reply thingy

So that was you passing out the popsicles! thanks! =)

Voodoo 2 was my first party and i must say i loved it. even the chaos at
the end was, well, interesting. I even met a few kids from my hometown of
cincy while i was there that i'm good friends with now

I will definately be at voodoo 3, look for me!

*hugs*

[mw] tales from the Darkside (6, that is)

I love being a part of any ele mental experiment, and Darkside 6 last
night just reconfirmed that for me.

So, rebecca, amber, and myself trekked out to columbus, swinging down
through terre haut to drop mikey off w/ doris non-payer, and then hauled
some arse out to OH. Being the silly fsck I am, we didn't leave until
~7:30CST.. arriving promptly <at> 2:30EST :( So we missed everyone up through
leigh (though still got to chill w/ her for a lil while ;p), but the rest
of the music all night was intense!

The kids all night had a nice fresh variety... something I don't see to
often at many so-called 'raves'. I won't go into explaining, but there
were some positively wacky people there (thank god!). And.. outside the
doors, instead of the traditional car kicking some serious chicago booty
out of the system, there were some cool cats kicking some serious boomin
hardcore and gabber. mmmmMMmmmMMmm... gabber...

Bambule Commando. I'll admit it. Never heard of 'em in my entire life.
But now I have, and I'll have to check out some more of them in the
future! That pair got some serious groove going on with the
noise/hard/xperimental styles.. And I swear I saw them back behind the
tables skankin ;)

Up next wuz the one like the Fishead...you all know the deal =) Even
though he declared there would be No More..God Damn..Re..Quests, he
dropped some speedcore per request. 's all good though.. I'm not
complaining... Some technical difficulties [like the crossfader falling
*into* the mixer?! <at> ], but hey, noise is noise, right? <duck!>

Then comes Fannon Flowers at 4... omigod does he have some wikked chewns!

[mw] into the darkness, helter skelter

well, made it to chicago safe and sound at around 11:30 to find a line that
stretched well over two blocks.

didn't bother to wait, and headed back up to milwaukee to check out helter
skelter.

we got there. saw some drunk people... the music (which was rocking for
the short time i had been there) was turned off because of police, and we
all waited around the fire.

we left as the boat started burning. anyone die from toxic fumes?

to be judgemental, i'd say i didn't like this party. there was attitude,
bad vibes and all that. but the party DID make me think.

if there was a message to be conveyed through this party..im not sure what
it was. through many people's drunken stupor, any meaning there might have
been seemed lost. i'm sure some people had fun, but i did not...well not
as a result of this party anyways. push the limits of a "rave"
party...that it did, however this is not the way i wish to spend any other
weekend.

the night was not a waste however. me and my girlfriend went to this party
with sammi, who we met through this list. she's a great person and a new
friend. the highlight of the night was chilling at george webb's by my
beepartment and just chatting.

perhaps next weekend i can pass out my gifts.

love,

[mw] Nitro-after-glow

Nitro you are a fantastic DJ and all around good guy....props to you.

Fuck...it is 8:30am just pulled in from Columbia, MO into St. Louis
and......WOW. That is all I can say about tonight/last night. I am soooo
butt ass tired it is not even funny. I danced totally _sober_ for 5 hours
non-stop. Nitro out of KC came into Columbia to rock our little collective
world. I had heard shitty things about Darkness and Helter so we decided to
stay local.....seeing some other posts I am glad we stayed here...yikes.
Anyway the party was small and filled with the best vibe I had seen in a
while. I met so many new people and shit. This was a party that everyone
talks about....VIBE and cool hugs and shit and just great fun. I am kinda
shy in my own way but this party was filled with love and cool people that I
opened up...I got so many numbers, smiles and hugs it was fantastic. This
is what ever true raver dreams of.....

I have to commend Nitro on his THREE HOUR set he played non-stop with out a
break. THREE goodam GROOVY hours of the best disco house I have heard in a
long time....I did not stop moving hardcore for three hours...the party
ended at 5am but he kept playing.....he kept playing until.....get
this....until he played _every_ single damn record he brought with
him....everyone. And after that, people realized that he went on for 3
hours and all this...they all clapped and cheered....it was
awesome.....never before seen. Come to find out that the DJ after Nitro's
spot never showed up....Joe Young, the producer, told Nitro that his time
was up and he could stop if he wanted too...he saw us party kids out there
cutting up the rug and said no way and kept the party going until he had
nothing left to spin......never once in the three hours did it ever get
monotonous or bland.....THREE hours and never did I say...."Is it ever going
to stop?" Which is unusual for me as love house but I need a variety to
keep me happy and not OD on one genre. WOW. After the cheers died down he

[mw] Into the Darkness (review?)

well...i didn't think it could be done, but this was the worst party i've
ever been to. we showed up around 11:45 or a little after. we waited in
line for an hour. people came out and said "if you don't have presale
tickets, you aren't gettting in". then police were there saying "if you
dont have tickets, you need to leave, or you will be arrested for
trespassing". i'm glad i only drove 2.5 hours to get there, unlike the
kids i heard talking about being from Minnesota and Michigan and Iowa, and
who knows where else.

i'd be curious to know what it was like inside.

i don't think there was an inside. =) naw i'm just joking...

well, considering we bought a presale and then ending up selling our presales
back to some kids... (one kid offered us 100$ after the fact for a presale...)
i'm almost glad we didn't choose to go 'INSIDE' because i wonder just how
packed it would have been...we returned around 3:00 in the morning to drop a
friend of ours back at the party (we deciced to go back to the loft party we
were at) and there was still a huge line going on...

the space looked nice from the outside.

at least it had a nice front lawn.

[mw] Into the Darkness (review?)

well....i did manage to get inside, the place was just PACKED....and the
sound kept cuttin out, there were 2 rooms, but we stayed in the big room
for the most part.....it was also really difficult to tell who was djing
and all, but i did see the atomic babies, they were pretty good....not the
best party i've been to, but after all, it was halloween and
all....security were kinda dickheads....nobody was even allowed to smoke a
cigarette in there....ohh well, still had phun

[mw] Into the Darkness review.

I really want to keep a positive attitude concerning this party but it's
gonna be hard.

***Note to Promoters - The absolute, positively, most important thing you
can do to make your party enjoyable is to have a good sound system !!!
The sound at this party was the worst I have ever experienced. It
completely ruined the night for me.***

Fortunately, I arrived somewhat early, and didn't have to wait in line
for long. If I had, I would have been furious.

Complaints:

Horrible sound in both rooms.
No Headliners (I was told they were canceled because the plane tics were
too expensive - I don't think money was a problem for this party).
No area to escape the horrible sound (you were supposed to be able to go
outside, but early in the night, security revoked that privilege).
Extremely long lines (didn't really apply to me).
Rude people.
Incompetent security.

Honestly, those somewhat easy to resolve factors are the only things
which made the party bad.

Positive things:

Good music (too bad it was distorted).
Good lighting.
