Re: dress codes

ok, before everyone who is kind enough to have supported me goes after
moe on this post of hers, let me say that she and i have had it out
privately and come to terms with each other....she seemed a bit nasty,
however, as she told me, her intent was to not be necesarily nasty, but
just to be a smart ass....and if she interpreted my post as many ohers
did, i can see why she would be nasty. at least out of those who cut me
down, she had the decency to discuss it with me in a private manner.
although i don't condone the way she put things, i bear no ill will
towards her and hope that others don't go off on her for this. all is
well between us. :)

naked ppl rule!

well, i think this dresscode thread has gone on long
enough for things to turn silly and make some broad
generalizations......

phat gear = dresscode/conformity?

dresscode/conformity = bad

originality = good

Monster truck shows = good if you are white trash

Dylan = dumbFUKKINass   ;)

well, i have been influenced to the point where everyone at UFO in madison
will just see my wing-wang flopping about cuz i don't want to wear any clothes
thereby having someone judge me by my fashion. :)

is this silly enuff?

love you all,

I wouldn't be surprised...

clubs in the US a la Camel...

introducing...

hello, everyone...
I just wanted to introduce myself. i am relatively new here in
this mid-west rave scene. I spent all of last year in london (england)
and i got really into the underground scene there. it was amazing! i've
never experienced anything so intense in my life!
Anyway...when i returned to college in ohio i just had to find
something to do, so... here i am! I went to Superfly last weekend with
friends from london who were visiting. i was really confused by the whole
YWCA thing. and we couldn't even smoke inside?! did anyone else find this
to be a problem?
umm... well, i really have no point here, no real goals at the
moment. just wanted everyone to know that i exist! possibly a little
self-absorbed of me, but...
		so, everyone take care...

	peace and magic...

This is correct and you dont have to spend a ton to have a killa
vibe...i've done it..

>- cost of space

Do it outdoors at a park or some remote area...thats free...

XMas lights are cheap...of hell...do a phat daytime party...

>- sound system (big thing big thing big thing for sure)

Most of the money goes here...get a good system. Music is everything. =)

>- Djs and performers, of which you must support their ego, lifestyles,

Use your friends. Locals are usually better than people you bring in anyways...

Maybe i'm thinking on a smaller scale, but hell it works and people have fun. =)

PHAT GEAR

tripkid has gone into bigot mode today: i now only like people who
wair phatass pants and have dyed short hair and chain wallets. they
have to look just like me before i will consider them as "cool"
my two cents on this thread. I am an isolated raver in
Valparaiso, Indiana (west of chicago) and i wouldn't get to go to
raves if i only went with PHAT ppl. my rides are usually friends
that have just caught a glimpse of the scene, (i introduced them),
and they are most comfortable in Greatful Dead T's and cords, and
they have hippy-lookin hair. If the rave scene were to become
an elitist fashion empire, i guess i would have to strap my friends
down to something and shave their heads, while i burn their hippy
clothes and then force them to put on makeup and buy $80 jeans.
but the scene will not turn into that. i and other happy people
will not let it. Personally, i think its great to look like a raver,
not a stereotype, but to be recognized as one who spends constructive
time on weekends being enlightened by musik and dancing and drugs is
a great thing. but take away the clothes, i'd still be that same
happy, dancing person. it's not what one wairs, it's how one acts
and thinks that is really important. if i go to an event and see a
bunch of phat people all doing speed and fighting and shit, then i
will be in for a bad night of it. but if i go to a party and see a
bunch of metalheads and jocks cheering on the dj and dancing and
hugging and loving it up, then i will fit right in--baggy or not.
love you all, and no more calling people "twats" ok?

Re: ISOLATIONISM

I'm not exactly sure how to take your post, I was speaking simply of
small, almost instantaneous parties, that are not designed to make
money, or even go over too smoothly. You need not explain to me the
expenses involved in large parties, I have been in volved in throwing
quite a few since early '94 (everything in Louisville since Evolution
I). Nor need you tell me that a large party has it's advantages over a
small party, I understand that fully. I also have been involved in
inumerous "Hey, let's go somewhere and spin, maybe call some
chicks"/ends up being 75 to 100 people parties. Check a recent posts by
French-e, he explains a party we threw word of mouth only, in about 1
1/2 hours last weekend. Sure we happen to have some pretty rare
resources, but I've even done shit in parks with a stereo. Ofcourse it
won't always work out, but if you have a good attitude, that can almost
be fun in itself. Come check out our little shindig the Sat, it'll be
fun.

Oh yeah, if you were agreeing with me, then I'll officially declare
myself idiot of the month. Like I said, I wasn't clear on what you were
meaning.

P.S. MTV is societal leech, feeding America with mediocre attempts at
musical advertisements for corporations. Except all the cool stuff I
grew up on in the 80's, "I wear my Sunglasses at night...so I can...so I
can...." what the fuck does he say next any way?
