About the CD Swap

Good People:

The deadline for sending CDs was last Friday, so some of you might not have received
them yet. I believe I said in my communications to give it two weeks until after the
deadline before contacting me *off-list*.

Really, I have to admit some level of disappointment. Many of you participated, and
that was very uplifting - but there could have been more. What's disappointing is
that those that didn't participate read these messages of "I haven't gotten mine
yet" and "So and so didn't respond to my emails" that gives a negative view of the
whole thing, and so they are likely to not participate in any future exchanges.

Really, I hope I'm not coming across as upset and petty. Just disappointed that the
first many people will hear about the whole thing is negative and will prevent it
from growing. And I am *definitely* not calling out any of the posters, so please
please please don't think I'm exacting some sort of revenge or trying to shame
anyone. Everyone that participated volunteered to trade the maximum amount of CDs,
so there are obviously a lot of sharing hearts on this list.

Not only that, I got a bonus Bananarama mp3 out of the deal! :)

Anyway, back to football talk. I am envious of those that get to see the cup in
person.

Adrian

I guess I'll have to correct that, lest Antje's husband would get a wrong impression: she's not my girlfrind. Antje had decided to fly over from Germany and since she sorts of "knows" me from my TBS-site had asked if we would meet before the show since it's always nicer to go to such an event not alone.

It was nice meeting you again Gina, cu again at the next London show, I guess. ;-)

It was great night in London and a pleasure meeting the fellow Fans and listers! Big cheers to everyone I met!!!

And I'm thankful I was able to get to the after show (so very, very special thanks to the person who arranged that once again! :-)  Paul seemed to be in a very good mood and he stayed at the aftershow quite long until almost everyone had gone. All other band members I met were once again very nice and kind and even those primarily  talking with friends or family were never rude or anything when I approached them for a short chat. Once again I talked longer with Gaz Birtles who's really cool as well and who by now remembers me from my various concert-fly-ins from Germany to London.

Cheers,

   Arne

Stephen,

As someone who's religious beliefs have changed so much over the years, I take Paul's comments with a grain of salt.  I think it was a flippant comment made to mock performers who always thank God.

Also, when I was much more ardent in my religious views I felt bad that people were atheists.  It bothered me.  And while I no longer feel that I have the answers to the afterlife, I still believe that something created all of this.  But, I don't mind that others don't believe that.  I do think some atheists are as obnoxious and close-minded as those the religious folks that they criticize though.

Subject: [LFW] The last word...

So there I was, having decided that Superbi was a 'grower', as someone once put it, and it was growing on me, and I had started to sing Meanwhile to myself after only two hearings, and most of the rest were getting better with every listen, when I finally got round to reading the booklet, and even the 'thanks to' at the end.
    And the next line after.
I don't mind folk holding different religious views to me; I'm used to debate (and ignorance). But why should TBS in one easy movement gratuitously insult all Christians, Jews and Muslims, and perhaps those of other faiths as well? If you're in that frame of mind, you might even call it blasphemy. Personally, I am deeply offended. Not angry, just very, very sad. If it weren't for the fact that we're taking our children, my wife and I would now have two tickets going spare for next Friday at Hull, and I'm not at all sure how we're going to enjoy it. I now feel embarrassed at the prospect of wearing TBS t-shirts - I've got enough of them.
I'm a completist - I have one of (nearly) everything TBS and HM ever released, and one or two things they didn't. I have possibly the largest collection of live recordings on the planet. So no-one can accuse me of being a part-time fan. But now I just feel betrayed by a band who are known for intelligent incisive lyrics - the irony! - and really, really don't know what to do next.
I know the list has (or used to have) folk on it of many different shades of religion and none at all. Does anyone else feel the same? or understand where I'm coming from?
    Steve the Vic

Incidentally, if any of you have me in your address book, please change me to stephenvcope <at> tiscali.co.uk. Ta!
