Re: Martin Bisi Interview

That's a pretty interesting article.
Thank you for posting.
One note:  Cream the band wasn't spelled Creem.  That's a magazine.

Great interview! I think PSF always great interviews. Always interesting and
informative. Check out Bisi's website too (link at the bottom of the
article) there's more interviews there.

Ed, thanks for the tip. I always appreciate people checking my journalistic back, so to speak. Thank God the web is easily adjustable; hopefully we'll be able to make the change as soon as possible.

Good luck to Lili. I had her record company send a promo of her first
solo CD (after enjoying her violin contributions to an Automaton CD)
and, well, it was, well, just awful. But maybe with Bill taking her
in hand this time....

Re: Re: Lili Haydn

heh...i got a promo of her first album where i used to work (naturally for that laswell collection) and found the same thing...if i recall, they were pushing her hard in that whole alanis, tracy bonham (who?) type of vein. i thought it was pretty terrible as well. hopefully laswell and cohorts are at least co-writting....

Violinist release

Lili's first album wasn't terrific, the same for the 2 Epidemics
releases who were really awfull despite the line-up. Hopefully there
more good Shankar albums than bad ones.

Fine New Remix CD featuring Laswell

Just received my copy of _Neti-Neti: Audio Letter Remix_ - appeared kinda outta nowhere, unless you noticed the full-page ad on the back of the most recent issue of _The Wire_....

Audio Letter was apparently a two-woman operation inspired by yoga teachings and Subcontinental music and culture in general, who while attracting quite a reputation in small quarters (including Don Cherry, who played on a track included here), only managed one release before calling it quits in 1988.

Now they have invited a slew of remixers to fiddle around with their album and the results will fit very nicely alongside your _Asana_ and _Spiritual Beauty_ Meta CDs (naturally, Meta´s Janet Rienstra had a hand in the genesis of the remix release).

Bill Laswell contributes the seven-minute "Liberation from Samsara" mix, while DJ Cheb i Sabbah (first, and imho, best track), Mike D (of The Beastie Boys), ambient musician Jeff Greinke and others do different, but similarly accomplished stuff. There is spoken word, rap (Run of Run DMC) and Sanskrit scat (!), but these are but elements in the great stew of beats and First and Third World sounds.

The Yoga Centre which released the album has a website, but I haven´t found any info about the music there yet: www.jivamuktiyoga.com.
