Cage: Two3 Online Broadcast, September 5th

You are invited to tune into a special online preview recording (semi- 
final version) of John Cage's complete 121-minute Two3 (1991), for  
sho and conch shells. The broadcast will occur this Tuesday September  
5th (John Cage's birthday) at around 4pm EDT. Simply visit http://

Two3 is John Cage's longest Number Piece and this is the first

prepared train cd

Hi there, the italian label "curved light" is preparing a 3 discs set featuring the recording of the prepared-train happening. It was 1978 and John Cage made this weird experiment using a train.....keep an eye on

Unfortunately it's all in italian....

"The group [International Contemporary Ensemble] deserves the attention: the freshness and electricity of its performances and nondogmatic programming are persuasive more often than not. For the Darmstadt series the group made John Cage the anchor of its program. Its opener, Cage’s “Credo in US” (1942), began as a tightly focused account but emphasized the gathering chaos within the work, as the percussionists whacked their collections of tin cans and pots and the increasingly assertive sounds of a randomly tuned radio gave the score a cartoonish connection to the present."

Wow!

Thanks for the news.  I've been trying to find someone in Italy willing 
to track down the original cassette tape of the performance (in the 
Florence library), but this looks to be much more complete.

I just hope it won't sink into total obscurity as rapidly as the 
original book and recording.

Dear Rod,

Yes I've been thinking about him and his legacy all day. I 
worked. Very hard. And it reminded me of what Cage wrote 
in his "Future of Music" essay regarding his opinion about 
music and work. A great essay to read today, or at least 
to think about. There's so much to do now, just as there 
was then when he wrote it. And with the same urgency too. 
Perhaps even more so. Who knows?

I don't know what Cage would have been doing today if he 
were still alive but I would guess that to whatever degree 
he was capable he'd be working as hard as he could at 
whatever he was doing at the time.

So a perfect connection to Cage I think--that his birthday 
is the day following the US celebration of Labor Day!

Well you can order from that site as you can see from the upper part of the 
page I gave the link of. It's the label catalogue and the Patrizio Fariselli 
and John Cage cds at the bottom of it are the upcoming releases.
