Re: [Fwd: MUSELETTER from Jane]

I think the San Francisco date is incorrect as listed in the latest
museletter. I noticed that the website of the venue listed it as the 3rd and I
contacted Sheeba and they confirmed that it is indeed the 3rd. Please let us know
a definite date.

Jane's own website has these dates reversed, and both
the venues (Swedish American Hall & McCabes) agree on
the reversed dates, appears to be a simple typo.

Jane at ROM

>B. Successful reading at the Royal Ontario Museum.

>On September 24th, 2004 Jane read at the Royal Ontario Museum, kicking off the ROM's 6th annual ROM Friday
Nights series. Jane's reading also launched the Word on the Street Festival.

I was lucky enough to find out about this on the day of. Friday night is free at the ROM and the event itself was
also free. It wasn't just "reading", she sang with a guitar too. The set was

+ "I don't remember a box" - poem
+ At the Beginning of Time
+ "Letter to Xevia" - about her lunch with Xevia and talking about the bad things in the world
+ In My Dream
+ "The Roar did it" - how she (the character} was frustrated and let out a Roar which made her feel so much better
+ Walk on Water

She wore a blue chinese chi-pao gown. Ordinarily western women in chi-pao looks like a cheap Bond girl, but
she also threw a funky white scarf over her shoulder and wore white 3-inch high sandals, the outfit
actually works. See pics below, unfortunately I didn't get her sandals.

There was at least 300 people there; it was the inauguration of the Book Festival, and there was a poet (a "Pit
Bull Poet") on stage before Jane. About 2 numbers into Jane's set, some people got up and left. Jane started
to say "Thanks for...", we thought she'll continue with "coming", but she paused until the people left,
then said in a funny voice "staying!" which made us all laugh. Near the end she said she hasn't done a small
set of 45 minutes before, how is she doing for time? the stage guy made a rolling gesture with his hand, Jane
said "Does that mean keep going, or " making the rolling gesture beside her head "that I'm crazy?"

Of the songs, In My Dream is the most amazing, and the crowd really loved it too. There is only the snippet on "A
day in the life" I have, is it available anywhere? There was quite a standing ovation at the end.

music recommendation systems

Hello and greetings,

Some time ago I heard of many on-line music recommendation systems (you
tell them what music you own and they use correlation to recommend music
for you). I've been playing with Amazon's system, but it seems too biased
by most recent entries instead of taking into account all ownings. Has
anyone played with a system that they enjoy? Suggestions will be greatly
appreciated.

I wish all well.

Re: music recommendation systems

Something like PC-Mag's Editor's choice system of the month seems to always
corrispond to the largest amount of advertisment space bought.

Jane Dream

When I read this morning's sib-news, I remembered that I had a dream about Jane last night. I can't recall
anything about it, I just remember her face.
