Interview with Ulf Langheinrich on aesthetics and perception of flow

*Interview with Ulf Langheinrich on aesthetics and perception of flow, both
in his audiovisual work and during his experience in Ghana, where he has
lived for some years.

The German artist Ulf Langheinrich works with digital media exploring and
extending the potential of technology in contemporary artistic practice.
Langheinrich, whose background originates in painting and photography, uses
a powerful combination of sound and images to address the abstract idea he
describes as a 'aesthetic matter' in installations and live performances
that engage with a careful analysis of detail, overwhelming beauty and
stillness. His work also includes a long term collaboration with Kurt
Hentschläger under the name Granular Synthesis.

Dan Sicko Memorial Wild Kingdom

This week's Wild Kingdom contains a tribute to recently passed author
Dan Sicko, whose book "The Techno Rebels" is a must-read for those who
want to investigate the roots of techno. I could have used that book
when I was trying to feel my way back in "94 and "95 - it's still a
vital resource now.. The first two hours of my show will be a solid
block of 313 vinyl in Dan's honor. Expect some of the usual suspects,
but also a fair number of obscure surprises, and a couple of ringers
from outlying fellow-travelers in Kalamazoo (1/2-way between Detroit and
Chicago!!!) and East Lansing. You can guess who they might be, or listen
and find out. "DJ of the Month Club", usually featured on the first
Friday of the month, is moved to next week - I'll talk about it then.
Last week's playlist can be found at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=38821 .
Limited time archives for all shows on KFJC are available at
http://www.kfjc.org/broadcast_archives/ . These are "rolling archives",
available for two weeks after any given show. My shows are listed under
"Goodwrench". Send comments and suggestions to info <at> kfjc.org .

"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Friday Night/Saturday Morning,
10P-2A (6A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php .
Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived at kfjc.org.
You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just
Desserts" that was on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999 (Deja Vu,
huh?). Archived playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to
New Year's Eve 1999/2000, so you can see what what I'm up to these days
is pretty much consistent with what I was up to all along.

If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all

Re: Dan Sicko Memorial Wild Kingdom

I'm sorry to hear that he's died. Techno Rebels is probably the most
cherished book that I own. He did a great job explaining the early Detroit
scene especially. The music from that time and place is still so inspiring.

New remix up for Talento+Williams Memoriam

More self-promotional mailing list spamming, but it's for a good cause
-- Mike Crooker took part 2 of our Memoriam session and did a
fantastic remix. He took our loose jam and made it into the track it
should be.

Wild Kingdom CD Freakout

Last week's Wild Kingdom featured a 2-hour block of solid Detroit techno
in tribute to recently passed author Dan Sicko, whose book "The Techno
Rebels" is a must-read for those who want to investigate the roots of
techno. The set can be viewed at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=38870 .
Tonight I'm playing a wild jumble of CDs, starting with Newworldaquarium
and ending up with (of all things) an old Caspar Pound/Plavka rave cut
recorded as Dominatrix UK - it's gonna be a freaky ride.
"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Friday Night/Saturday Morning,
10P-2A (6A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php .

is pretty much consistent with what I was up to all along.

If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all
over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events.
If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC
promotions department at promo <at> kfjc.org to arrange ticket giveaways
and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks
to those who have sent promo music so far.
