No Wild Kingdom Tonight

It's the month of Mayhem at KFJC, and special features preempt the usual
show. This week the usual Wild Kingdom shot has been displaced by an
18-hour celebration of black metal that started at noon today, and will
continue until 6AM tomorrow morning. I'll be doing a Jazz feature on
the early years of the AACM this coming Tuesday 10AM-2PM PDST. This
coming Friday, it's the first part of a Sahko/PUU special feature
10PM-2AM. The next night, it's 3 hours of cheesy/scary/blinding early
90's hardcore on Sunday 12A-3A, the usual Wild Kingdom slot. Check the
Mayhem calendar at www.kfjc.org for other specials that may be of
interest. Playlists for the last two Wild Kingdoms are available at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=35173 and
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=35227 .

Limited time archives for all shows on KFJC (including this one) are
available at http://www.kfjc.org/broadcast_archives/ . These are
"rolling archives", available for two weeks after any given show. My
shows are listed as "Goodwrench". Send comments and suggestions to
info <at> kfjc.org .

"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning,
12A-3A (8A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php .
Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived at kfjc.org.
You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just
Desserts" that was on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived
playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve
1999/2000, so you can see what what I'm up to these days is pretty much
consistent with what I was up to all along.

If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to

my Mutronics Mutator emulation plugin (max for live)

Here is a max for live implementation of the Mutronics Mutator minus the VCO and add a few UI optimizations.
It is also an excellent template for learning how to integrate the powerful open source Csound synth
engine into your MAX/MSP projects.

You will need to first install the 32-bit install of Csound (mac installer installs both 64-bit and 32 so you
are all set if you are on mac), downloadable here:

http://csounds.com/downloads

or directly linked from here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/csound/files/

You will also need to install the csound extern for MAX/MSP which can be downloaded here (be sure to load up
the "float" extern and not the "double"):

http://www.davixology.com/csound~.html

Lastly, you will need to download the Max for live plugin and Csound file from here:

http://infinitetransform.com/Mutronics.amxd

http://infinitetransform.com/Mutator.csd

Be sure to keep these files in the same directory and then drag and drop the .amxd file into which ever synth or
audio channel you want in Ableton. FYI only one instance of Csound is allowed per session.

Cheers,

updated instructions: my Mutronics Mutator emulation plugin (max for live)

Here is a max for live implementation of the Mutronics Mutator minus the VCA and add a few UI optimizations.
It is also an excellent template for learning how to integrate the powerful open source Csound synth
engine into your MAX/MSP or Ableton live projects.

You will need to first install the 32-bit install of Csound (mac installer installs both 64-bit and 32 so you
are all set if you are on mac), downloadable here:

http://csounds.com/downloads

or directly linked from here:

You will also need to install the csound extern for MAX/MSP which can be downloaded here (be sure to load up
the "float" extern and not the "double"):

http://www.davixology.com/csound~.html

Lastly, you will need to download the Max for live plugin and Csound file I created from here:

http://infinitetransform.com/Mutronics.amxd

http://infinitetransform.com/Mutator.csd

Or Download the two files as a zipped archive here:

http://infinitetransform.com/Mutronics.zip

Be sure to keep these files in the same directory and then drag and drop the .amxd file into which ever synth or

Greetings once again, friends and music lovers.

In late 2008, after playing for [KONTROL] four times between 2005 and 2007,
Dan Bell approached me and told me he had an idea for a long-format special
event in which he was the only DJ all night. Knowing this would truly be one
for the history books, we secured SF's most amazing intimate private
