I think of idm as not only content but context, and neither fuck
buttons or Ellen allien fit any possibility of idm for me.

Fuck buttons is too indie rock electro sounding, and Ellen allien is a
mnml techno diva.

I don't need an album to have chaotic amen breaks and sine wave
cartoon melodies to be considered idm, but I honestly don't know any
notable idm this year aside maybe from William basinski, but that's
ambient material.
