SB Touch and Linksys E3000 WiFi issue

Hello to All,

I just got a new SB touch to stream internet radio stations at my
office. The touch connected to the router via WiFi with no problems.
Once connected, it downloaded the latest firmware and I registered at
msb.com via the touch and also installed the slacker app. I am unable
to stream music from any selected station.... slacker, locals, etc. The
station displays the song title now playing, but no audio and the
progress bar stands still. If I switch to a different radio station, a
new song displays, but no stream. I brought the SB touch home and
connected it via WiFi to my trusty Linksys WRT54GS and it was up and
running in 2 minutes. I have used the E3000 for more than a year
without any WiFi issues. I have plenty of bandwidth and any other WiFi
enabled device works fine. I am running WPA2 Personal on the E3000.
Again, the SB connects ok but will not stream the music. Everything
looks good on the diagnostic screen of the Touch. I have searched for
hours on this issue and come up empty handed. Today I plan on taking
another look at the E3000 wireless configuration and was thinking of
enabling QoS and binding it to the SB's mac address to see if that
would fix the problem.

Thanks in Advance

Re: SB Touch and Linksys E3000 WiFi issue

It does or does not work on your home network? Are you trying
non-Slacker stations? Slacker & Pandora are currently experiencing
issues.
What are you outputing the audio to? Speakers? Amp? Headphones?
Sure Volume is turned up?

Using Squeezebox for the first time, a couple of questions

I just bought myself a Squeezebox touch and it seems like I am going to
like it......at least when I have solved or understood how the library
scanning works.

But I have a couple of questions after a owning it for a couple of
days. I have used and are still using other music servers and network
players like MediaMonkey, TVersity, PS3 and PCH-110.

I have installed the server on a windows PC on a local network, with no
media files locally. All media files are store on different PC's or
NAS's.

1. I am about to add several folders to the server using paths like
this:
\\192.168.0.192\music\60's
\\192.168.0.198\music\70's
etc.
Is there a limit for the amount of folders, and will it be any problems
with this way of addressing folders instead of mounting network shares?

2. I have experienced that the server rescans all folders everytime I
add a new one, is this correct? And it also seems to rescan folders
when I reboot the PC, is there any settings for this, as I do not want
this to happen?

3. When I try to rescan one folder, it seems like the server is
rescanning all folders. Is there a way to rescan one folder?

4. Is there a way to back up folder settings? If I have to reinstall

Re: Using Squeezebox for the first time, a couple of questions

Why not have one high level folder with all the other folders under it.
Then only one entry in Lms. Or one directory that has links to all
other directories. Same idea with only one directory entry on Lms.

Thanks for the answer, but how does that make me scan only one folder
for instance?

If I choose to have one folder, I have to rescan all the folder, even
thou I have only added one album to my "Country" folder. With several
folders I had hoped it was possible to rescan that folder only.

Linking? How do I link so that the media server understands that the
files are pleace in different locations on several network shares?

kind regards
Jarle

Re: Using Squeezebox for the first time, a couple of questions

You can add the \\192.168.1.x\music folder an be done this will include
all subfolders for that storage .
Assume you don't have 40 different locations .

Also these storage devices and other computers do they have static ip
addressing ?

Note that LMS expects to find it's music folders while it is running,
it will dump it's database if folders are missing assuming the dB would
be invalid due to some major change and require a rescan .

Another way is to point it to one local folder and in that one have
shortcuts to the other folders and shares

Re: SB Touch and Linksys E3000 WiFi issue

Works fine at home both hardwired and wireless when connected to my old
WRT54GS. All stations are functional...slacker, non slacker, etc.

At the office using the Linksys E3000,either wired or wireless, the SB
connects to msb.com and all available stations will
connect.....slacker,locals,non-slacker, etc. When first connecting to
any station, the song and album cover will display, song title, artist,
but no streaming music. Also, the "song progress" bar timeline below the
song title is missing. The E3000 works fine with other devices. I am
there now typing this reply on my laptop connected to the E3000 router.
The Squeezbox is connected to a 200w/channel amp which is functioning
fine. I can turn on the 1khz test tones from the factory test screen
and blow the doors out of the office.

Office like an Office in a big corporation ?

I would be extremely surprised to see any squeezesomething work in
typical corporate environments .

To many firewalls etc down the line to many blocked ports and other
ways of traffick shaping.

Edit: try the Linksys E3000 at home ?

Yes I use static IP for all devices, but ofcours some might be turned
off while LMS is running.

I don't have 40 different locations just 4-5, but I want to do
everything that is possible to make LMS to rescan as smallest parts of
my collection as possible when adding new files. So theres's not
solution to this wish at the moment. I had hoped that the server did
rescan only when I clicked the rescan button for that certain folder
and only rescan that folder, not the whole library every time.

Re: SB Touch and Linksys E3000 WiFi issue

Yeah, I'd guess your companies IT people have somehow blocked certain
ports or streaming types. Can you bring in any laptop to work and
stream internet stations with it? No pre authorizing devices/computers
needed through your IT dept?

How about installing the SqueezePlay software player on a laptop,
verify it will play from MySB.com on your home network, then try that
same laptop + SqueezePlay + MySB.com on your company network?
