Re: Clearing playlist

Just a follow up on this one. I had a bit of trouble at first. So i
realised i had got rid of the "Now PLaying" menu item from the home
menu. When i put it back it worked. I also moved it to the top of the
home menus. though i don't know if the posiion of the menu item is
important.

Re: Shuffle

Strange. I've noticed that witjin controller settings I have Spicefly
Sugarcube in there. When switched off shuffle works.

Don't know what Spicefly Sugarcube does or how it got there, any
thoughts?

SB direct to PC

Is it possible to connect a SB directly to a pc via a crossover cable?

I want the SB to be connected to the PC's network card via the
crossover cable to play my flac files, but then I would want the SB to
also be able to connect to the net to access Napster etc via either its
own wirelss or the wireless card on the PC.

If this is possible, how do I ensure that the flac files are played via
the cable (which I assume is better than wi-fi) and that it switches
automaticallly to wi-fi for online content?

That is not possible, one interface at the time. It has to connect to
the internet trough your PC (PC settings for this depends on OS ).
With the correct setup it can communicate trough the PC if the PC have
internet connection. The PC can be conected to internet via wifi (if the
wifi is good enough for streaming )

Other gotchas, it's not likely that the PC can act as DCHP and DNS for
the SB .
So your setup will be with static IP both on the SB and the network
card, including correct DNS settings and such, same subnet,

So if I have static IP's (DNS and Subnet etc)for both it will work
(using the pc's wireless for internet access and the cable for local
files)?

Re: SB direct to PC

This can pobably work with some fiddling static-ip on the ethernet card
and DHCP on wifi card connected to router/modem internet ?

if you are using win-XP "Internet Connection Sharing" is the the way to
let your squeezebox get to internet trough your PC's other interface.

Re: SB direct to PC

If you have a wifi router hooked to the internet (and DHCP enabled on
the router,) you could wire the SB to the PC and the SB could act as a
wireless bridge to provide both itself and the PC with addresses..

Quick question though: What's wrong with playing FLACs over wifi? (Why
do you want to use the cable?)
