RE: Re: MG-500 value?

G'day,

I had a Casio MG-510 for a while. I found it in a second-hand shop in my home town for AUD $475 and couldn't
resist. I bought it more out of curiosity than necessity.

Personally, I thought it was a great sounding guitar and, once setup, felt really good. I was surprised at
how good the tracking was given the vintage but there is no doubt in my mind that my Axon AX-50 slaughters it
in terms of raw tracking speed.

In the end, I sold the Casio for the same price I bought it for. I sometimes regret that because, overall, it
was a really cool instrument.

Regards,
Dale

I've been playing it a bunch. I don't have anything to compare it to. I'd say the tracking is good but you can't
play sloppy. As for the speed the lag is noticeable- esp when you play faster passages. I am very curious if
the Axon system was faster. In the end if I had an option for a faster system I would sell the Casio and get it. I
also notice if you run it direct to a sound module it seems a hair quicker than running through a
splitter/merger or into a computer. I also use a power adapter.

EASY TO USE recording software

I recently ask all of you for software that would do multi track recording on your pc.I got several
suggestions but it seems that about all the software I have downloaded and tried on the free trial basis
takes a rocket scientist or a computer engineer to understand.
So just a simple record playback and add another track is all I am interested in since most effects I use my
rackmount processor for.

Roland GR-1

I just wanted to let everyone know the Roland GR-1's are still out here in the field.I got mine I think around
1990 and she has never let me down.I am not a big fan of the stick on or add on pickups,so a few years ago I bought
the Roland ready Fender Strat. The two mate perfectly with each other.I use mine alot in my home studio
where I produce my own soundtracks to play and sing with in a One Man Band act.

Re: EASY TO USE recording software

I dont know if you have tried Audacity. Its free, easy to use but is purely an Audio multitrack recorder. No
MIDI support. Its not perfect by a long chalk but is pretty simple to use and even suports VST plugins.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Has versions for Windows, MAC and UNIX/Linux

Hoped it helps

Re: EASY TO USE recording software

The easiest program to record and mix audio and midi
is Logic Fun. Still a working link for download:

http://www.dirk-bechtel.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=467

I don“t know if there is a simpler thing than this at all...

Cheers,
Djordje

Re: EASY TO USE recording software

There is something to be said for using dedicated hardware. I recently just purchased a Zoom R24 which is in
essance a 24 track recorder (up to 8 at one time) using SDHC cards to record on. Also acts as a USB 8 input
interface to intergrate into a DAW of any choice. Acualy comes with Cubase LE5 though I am planning on using
it with Sonar X1. Point is that it is a hardware recorder in its own right which can then be imported into a DAW
if yoy find one at a later that you can get along with.

You may be happy with you roland but thought it worth a mention

I hear you...

Have you can downloaded a trial version of Cakewalk Sonar or something a little
less complicated. Most of the products are fairly easy to use.

I have Pro Tools and it's a pain to use compared to Sonar, but everyone has
their own way of doing things.

There are folks that would say Pro tools is easier....

What ever works for you.

Re: If I own a GR 55 do I still need my GI20 Midi Guitar Interface/Converter?

I only briefly owned a Roland GI20 and found it 'usable ' for playing other sound modules but not great. Never
actualy tried it with a sequencer so cant say how accurate it was or not.

With regards teh GR-55. I hooked it up to my laptop using Sonar X1 and some of the built in Synths and have to say
I am very pleased with it. Did find some latency with the lower strings but is definately a vast improvement
over previous offerings.

It has to be said it tracks superbly using its own internal sounds and is really hard to make it glitch even
when using piano sounds. I havent used any AXON products apart from a Yamaha G50 so cant say how well this
stacks up against them but have to say this by far the best Rolad Guitar Synth I have used to date.

In answer to your question I would say you would unlikely be needing your GI20 should you purchase a GR-55.
