Installation of Sustainiac to Godin XTSA (Danny)

Danny - Did you get the Sustainiac in the XTSA? How do you like the guitar? Does the MIDI track well when using
the Sustainiac?

GK-1 guitar part hunt

Does anyone here have or know where I can find the locking nut that sits on top of a GK-1 equipped guitar for the
synth/guitar/guitar&synth toggle switch....or know the size/thread pitch (preferably in black to
match my ancient Hamer Phantom A7)?

Thanks

Kent

Re: GK-1 guitar part hunt

Hello Kent!

Wayne here...

I'm a little confused, the GK-1 was hard wired to mode II, you can mod
it to another mode, and I have a link on my website:

http://www.joness.com/gr300/gk1.htm

I'm not sure what is in your Hamer A7, STK-1 or LPK-1, but either way
a stock MIDI switch nut should work fine, I've used nuts from other
switches interchangeably. Any guitar parts shop that sells a mini
black DPDT should be able to help out. I can check to see if I have a
nut in my parts bin.

Re: Installation of Sustainiac to Godin XTSA (Danny)

Hey Mike!

Thank you very much for remembering!

I DO have my Sustainiac. However, it is not installed yet. I wanted to take may guitar to Argentina (where I'm
from) with a friend who was going for vacations, but I got my Sustainiac late. I'm still trying to find a good
tech and not suuuper expensive in New York. Someone from the group told me about a place. I called a couple of
time, I think they only answer once or twice a week.
Regarding the MIDI/ SUSTAIN relation, this is what I think:

I have the Axon AX50 USB. you can set the Trigger Level and the Note Off Limit. If you put the Note Off limit to
the minimum,. the note off will be sent 'just before the string dies out'. To the maximun, all the opposite.
So I think the best way to go would be to first set the Trigger Level and the Note Off Limit to get the best
possible response from the guitar. And then, to sustain 'midi notes', you can just set the sustainer level
to the minimum as long it is 'a bit' higher than the note off limit.
This way you can minimize the sustainer side effects, and still make it work for midi. For that reason, I
ordered the Push/ Pull, in order to be able to set the sustainer gain.
The Fernandez humbucker sustainer DOESN'T HAVE THE SUSTAIN LEVEL. So , what if the feedback is way too much,
so that as long as you take the hands off the guitar the string start to ring?
That would translate good into midi, of course, so it is not desirable.
So, this is what I think, but unfortunately, I havent the chance to try it. ;)
Summing up. To sustain a MIDI guitar. The less possible intensity as long as the note off is not sent!

Thanks a lot!

Danny Bullo

PS: If anyone remembers of a good tech in NY who DID INSTALL SUSTAINERS BEFORE, please let me know!

Re: Shadow guitar-midi converters & multiplexer

Thanxs Dude!

;)

The Shadow uses the 'conventional' pitch to midi? (as roland...which requires 2-3 full cicles?)

Thankxs!

Danny,

Have you or anyone else got a decent Godin xtSA wiring diagram that covers
the GT mainboard and socket elements?
