Re: Roland'sGI-20, iMAC and other questions.

K:

Can you tell us a little more?? The GR-33 is known to be a bit slower
for MIDI out than the GR-1, but it still should work for you. The GR-33
manual is available from Roland customer service, which should have the
patchlist too. Does you JV see the GR-33 when you connect 33's midi out
to JV's midi in?? Can the JV send and receive a patch from the MAC??

Does anyone know of a midi-ox equivalent for the MAC??

The GI-20 is nice, but I recommend getting the GR-33 to work first. It
may do enough for you.

I have some at my site: (below) if you don't see it there let me know
and I will add it.

Re: LIMEX midi guitar controller?

I inquired about this device and am still waiting for answers as
to "how and why" it works and asked for a comparison on technology
used and actual tracking vs. the current RMC/Roland/Axon devices.

My guess is that in order to go through with manufacturing this
product they had to do a study of existing devices in order to
justify the rollout.

The features are fairly basic except for the wireless: here is the
first reply from the inquiry (I will end the message with the reply
and post a new one when I get more answers):

This MIDI for guitar is only for 4 -6 string guitar.
Installation does not require any special skills. You can do it
yourself
and install it on any make of the guitar or you can send your guitar
here
and we make the professional installation.
Features :

> Change the bank number

> Mono / poly

> Velosity

MIDI guitar custom builds

Does anyone know a MIDI guitar specialist who may be able to do
custom implementations of 6 plus strings using Ghost or RMC pickups?

Just wondering as I am trying to attempt a custom guitar that is 7
or 8 strings.

I heard Hipshot is working with Graphtech for their bridges
including the Trilogy (multi tuning bridge) and they have 6, 7, and
8 string solutions for electric guitar.

I also know Timtone does some special stuff but this guy is very
high cost.

Anyway a point in the right direction could solve my problem so it
would be much appreciated

Thomas

Re: Re: LIMEX midi guitar controller?

hi and happy new year, i will also be quite interested in finding out the
scoop on this device. it sounds like it has regular midi out and not needing
a converter such as Axon or Roland which would be great, more similar to the
old Casio guitars or midiaxe technology. price sounds very reasonable so
something seems odd cause would think should be quite a bit more expensive
for what would be needed for this to work well. Please let us know what you
find. Regards, Dave

UPRIGHT BASS

Hi, group. As a midi dummy I appreciate all the help for the beginners
here.

I'm trying to create a good upright bass patch on my GR-30. There's way
too much sustain for the "thumper" sound I'm trying to get. When I mute
the string there is a fret buzz [or some artifact] at the end; not real
loud but definitely there. I have the manual [thank heavens!] but have
overlooked a way [if there is one] to have a sharp cut-off wave form.
The only thing I found that appeared similar is in the arpeggio
function.

I still have the light strings and low action [which I know I need to
change]. Could this be part of my problem?

If someone knows where the info I need is in the fm please let me
know... [ggg]

Thanks,
James

RE: UPRIGHT BASS

Sounds like you need to look into changing the program's AMP ENVELOPE.
A shorter DECAY value with a zero SUSTAIN should do it.

You can view/download it on "Music Central" page. It's a PDF file

GK and GI-20

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the setting of the GK
pickup for "reverse"? The setting is on the main settings page on
the VG-88, but I can't anything about it in the manual for the GI-
20. I don't see how Roland could have made an oversight like
this... PLEASE, someone, fill me in!
