What happened to my sequences?? - they are all transposed!!

I reloaded my sequences form mu SCSI hard disk backup and they all are playing transposed upwards a few steps 
- Any idea why and 
- how do i fix this?

IS an internal Hard drive worth it for a k2500x - and yes i forgot to say K2500x in my previous email

IS an internal Hard drive worth it for a k2500x  
   - and yes i forgot to say K2500x in my previous email asking about the weird transposition issue with my
reloaded sequences

I wonder about the hard disk BECAUSE i don't know if it might create issue with external chain, beta or any
other complications that would void its usefulness

thoughts - but only if you HAVE experience with using an internal HD in a k2500 or K 2000 series!

there are 2 controllers in the k series of samplers 1 internal and 1 external that address the scsi ids

so yes it will not conflict the external connector as long as you dont set the same scsi id as only one of the
drives will respond to it

K2vx help needed

Hi All,

I haven't been here in many years. I guess I was on this list everyday back in 1999 to 2002, so some might
remember me and I may remember some of you.
When my K2vx is on, it will turn off in about an hour and then back on, and then cycle to on and off over and over...

I just got back from the 3rd repair shop, and no body can fix it for me. This last tech said he thinks the problem
is in the mother board, and nobody can get these parts anymore because Kurzweil sold to Young Chang, who
then sold to somebody else...

I don't know how to go forward with this. I am NOT going to put a $3,200
synth on the road for the trash because of some little $25 faulty resistor or capacitor on my Mother Board.

I guess I need a repair shop that has some old Kurzweil parts because Kurzweil does not support their product
any longer. I'm pretty pissed right now and I feel I should call the Attorney General of NY, to go after
Kurzweil for me. I know I will never buy another Kurzweil product ever again.

Any advice short of getting my gun out will be greatly appreciated.

Gary,

You can probably pick up a K2000 for around $300 and transfer any options from your old one.  They really aren't
worth the repair cost.  I picked up a K2000VX for $125 that was dead and fixed the power supply for $5 in parts.
It's still a great synth but not worth much $ wise.  Good Luck!

Many shops have a guys that can not repair at the component level unless it is a simple repair. There are
probably less than 50 techs nationwide that can do component level repair.  The rest are board level
techs.  And then there is the unit level tech, that if you send him or her a new instrument, they will swap
the guts and maybe fix your gear!  

Did anyone replace the big 5 volt cap, 68,000uf as I recall.  Some of these caps would open when they got hot. 

What do you mean by turns off?  Locks up, or does it goes black like you turned it off?

Cut 'em some slack dude. All the techs that know that synth have probably all moved on by now or retired.
Microsoft doesn't support XP anymore and that's a lot newer than the K-2000...

that sounds like a psu problem cycling bad caps not holding there charge

take out psu and send to me 

synth and sampler repair 
42 glastonbury crescent 
walsall 
ws3 2rf
united kingdom

and i will service it and test it properly for all operations

i have some k2000 spares and test machines to test your psu in

Hey Thanks Jack,

I may send this to you if I need to, but I would be very afraid to open 
my machine and remove the psu because I don't even know what it looks 
like. I would much prefer somebody to whom I could give the machine to, 
and have them open it up and remove and fix what ever needs repair. But 
if I can not find anybody to do that, I'll take the machine back to the 
shop, and have their tech remove the psu for me, so I can send it to you.
