How load .WAV samples into k2500s

I hope I'm not asking a question already asked. I'm new to Kurz and have just purchased an immaculate K2500S.
I have WAVs of various ethnic instruments, and of choirs. How do I get them into the kurz to play them live (on
stage)? Or is this my misunderstanding of a sampler: It can't be done? I have a SCSI card and cable, and I have
a MIDI interface. Do the WAVs have to be converted to a KURZ format like .sysex for Alesis?

Re: How load .WAV samples into k2500s

If I remember correctly, you can just load .wav files directly into the
Kurz -- just put it on some kind of media (either a floppy, though only
for small samples, or something like a zip disk, or even a scsi hard
drive) and attach it to the K2500. Then use the disk manager to load in
the sample(s). Once you've loaded them all, you should probably (once
you've made keymaps and programs for them) save them together as a bank,
so that it's easier to load them in the future.

But yeah, the kurzweil should be able to load most early sample formats.
In theory you can send samples through midi, but it's very slow and
easily prone to errors. The sysex format is basically midi messages and
should be avoided.

Orchestral rom soundblock?

Bought an orchestral rom soundblock from ebay for a k2500r. Already have the piano and contemporary
soundblocks. What is the physical and/or numerical differences between the contemporary and
orchestral rom boards - I think this one is another contemporary rom...............

Re: Orchestral rom soundblock?

The orchestral and contemporary ROM's are keyed, ie the will not physically fit into the wrong spot on the
daughterboard. If it physically fits into the orchestral spot, then it's the orchestral ROM. If it
doesn't, you should find that it will fit into the Contemporary spot.

The connectors on the daughterboard and the ROM are different for the 2 different ROM's. Make sure that you
align the arrows and then slot them in.

Re: How load .WAV samples into k2500s

The information deano gave is good. The chapter on Disk Mode should cover it all (it does for the K2000,
anyway).

If your wav's are multisamples, though, it might be easier to use KurzFiler to put them together on a
computer, and make a KRZ file there, instead of using the K2500 to do all that. I used it for that purpose this
summer, and it worked quite well. Saved a _lot_ of time, and you get automatic backups by having the
originals on your computer.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/kurzfiler

Good luck!

Re: PC3X

You cannot load any new samples on the PC3 series, it does not sample. However, it is much more powerful than
any earlier instrument including the 2600 series.  There are a number of people on the SonikMatter forum
who have programmed various Pink Floyd sounds on the PC3 using the existing samples as starting points.
Some of these programs are downloadable.  BTW, user program files for the PC3 are typically only a few K in
size - you can use a virtual USB drive to transfer from a computer, but an xD card works best.  ONLY the
original type S xD cards will work - this means any card that is 64 or 128meg, and some cards that are 256mb.
I have every public release OS, about a hundred user programs, and an "everything" file to restore my PC3X
to add all my changes at once - still have about half the room on a 128meg xD card.

I liked the PC3X well enough to buy a PC3 eleven months later for gigging.

Mandolin

Does anyone have any interest in developing a mandolin sound for the PC3X?
Any suggestions on where to start?

PC1x Saving issues..... HELP PLEASE

HI

IM new to this group and hope someone can help me

Here is the scenario: For eg....On the second bank of Pianos is Hard rock piano. Now I want to add a layer of
strings to this piano ( which I know how to do) and save it to a user bank. As far as I can tell from trying , and
from the manual, it will only let me save it as a SET UP.

Now as I want to use these sounds live it would be real handy to have them all in the user bank and just switch
from one to the other easily.

Do you know off hand how to achieve this , what should be a really simple operation? I cannot find the solution
in the manual, and find it puzzling that saving to user bank should be a problem.

Many thanks

Broken Key Needs Repairing or Replacement?

I've just received a Kurzweil PC161 and the uppermost key is broken. I don't think it can be repaired,
probably needs to be replaced. I can't find any service manuals on the Internet. Does anybody know how I
open the instrument and replace the key? And where I can get a key? Kurzweil doesn't seem to answer emails.
