Trumpet and Trombone

Morning all,

I have the BOV sound set on my K2600. I would like to know what Trumpet and
Trombone programs might be best suited for a Fast attack horn section (as in
Vehicle by Ides Of March or Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil). Trying to
avoid having to load samples here.

I know it's a matter of personal preference..just wanted to see what someone
else might come up with.

K2x00 dependancy question

Say I'm working on a set of programs, keymaps & samples in the 200's bank,
then I save the whole bank.

Later I load them into the 300's bank and the programs are still looking
in the 200's for the keymaps.

Is there a right way to save so that all those links are kept intact
no matter what range of ID#'s you load into?

should work with 2 considerations when you save files:
"names" and "save dependant objects" ( in this case, objects are saved and will be loaded ( <=> added "on" the
destination ID )
names can be used when yiu are sure that the dfependants objects are already saved outside the K

3° consideration:
these objects can be loaded independantly and if you choose "record macro ", tyou have an overview of what
was loaded where

to be sure , first save evrything, than try the use of " partial " save and load to be sure nothing is losed
( also remember: when you load something, dependant objects (in hierarchy) can be loaded automatic.)

in theory, each object " has only to be saved one time on the media " to save place...

I've bought a K2500RS recently (2 weeks), and when i save something that
needs dependancy i save only the main object that needs other stuff (a song
or a setup, for example) and the Kurzweil do the rest just fine, loading is
not a problem (just use Fill and OvFill with care). If you have, for another
example, more than one setup to save with dependancy, you must save multi
objects at once, with dependacy too. Dependancy works really fine with
things like: song->arrangements->setups->programs->keymaps->samples.

The mistake that a see in your case is that you are saving the bank, not the
main object that leads the K to the dependants objects, so K loads the bank
in the order you saved and in the order that is available or not (load
mode), without use relationship. Query: when you save the K asks you if you
want to save dependats objects??? If it do, then really i don't no what is
wrong...

Sorry my poor english and information, but i'm brazilian and a new user to
this gear!!

The samples, keymaps and programs all fit into a single bank,
so when I save the bank, it is getting all the objects into it.
But for some reason, loading the file into a different range
of hundred, causes some links to break (i.e. some objects are
looked for in the original range -- 200's).

I am never given an option of save "with dependents" or
"names" because the bank includes all dependents.

OK, but "something" is missing, for some reason, a link

1.before saving, go in the master page, and move the concerned objects in a different bank

than save
 reload in a different bank

or
2.try to save the "higher"  objects <=> Progs  with dependant
so you can see if theres a link problem and  whats missing when reloaded

Yeah Jon, that's the problem to me. When you save the 200's bank fully, the
K does not handle the data in a dependents mode. Look: you click "Disk
Mode".... "Save"... leave selected the "200...299" banks and click in "OK"
button, right?

If you do that, there is the mistake. You tell the K to save all 200's bank
as it is in memory. When you load back the 200's bank that you saved in
another bank (400's or 500's), the K simply put the objects that are in the
bank you saved in to the bank you tell him to load and in the objects that
are free in that bank (depends on the loading mode). Then any object in the
bank you saved that depends on other will reference this other in the 200's
bank, because no relation was been set.

To save in the right way, you need to: click "Disk Mode".... "Save"...
select the bank where you have the objects that need to be saved with
dependent mode (i think in you case is the 200's bank) and click "Object"...
now you see a list of the objects that are on the 200's bank, select the
objects that have dependancy with others clicking the "Select" button and
when finished click "OK". The K will ask the same things to save the object
but now it will ask if you want to "Save dependent objects?"... click on
"Yes" and see if it work now!! To select the right objects, think in the
"top" objects... if you bank have only programs and setups, the setups are
the "top" objects to be saved... if your bank have programs, setups and
songs using the setups, then the songs are the "top" ones... if you have
programs, setups and songs... but some setup are not used by any song and
you need it, you need to select the songs and the setups you need... the
same applies to programs...

You can take a look at the manual too, page 26 of DiskMode.pdf, because is
two modes of dependent to be used... but complicates a lot to explain now...

Multi Disks Loading in HD

I have some files that are multi disks objects that i put on the K2500R Hard
Disk.
When i try to load it the K always ask for the second disk, but i not found
the way to load the second disk!!! Anyone know the way?

Voltage Selection

I opened my K2500R and found a connector with can be connected to the
following places: 100V 120V 200V 240V. To select another voltage it's just
put the connector to the right voltage? I think the right voltage is that
one more close to this options, right?

The selection of other voltages should be done only via the back panel by flipping a switch and changing out
the fuses.  This is clearly indicated in the manual.

I don't know anything more than that...but I felt I better respond before you decided to just start plugging
things into other things and killing your machine.  A responsible and competent person should be along
soon to let ya know how to do it right though :-)
