Re: Control Pedal

Gary,
I have a Roland EV-5 which seems to work well. However, after I purchased
this one, I found out about a Boss FV-500L...which seems to very durable
although a little more pricey.

I would make 4 Setups. Each setup would have one of the four sounds as
the active sound. Just copy your current Setup to 3 more locations.
Active a different sound for each Setup and save them.

Place them in the first 4 User locations. Each Setup would have one of
the four sounds in the active zone.

Find a foot controller that sends Program Change commands. Now you can
step on 1 of 4 pedals to select a different (identical except for the
ewctive sound) Setup.

Paul,
This is what I've done so far: for a setup with 3 zones, the
zones to be added one by one as the song progresses:
Split it into 2 setups.
Setup 1: First instrument in zone 1, green. Second instrument
to be added is in zone 2, amber.
Setup 2: same as setup 1, but third instrument on zone 3, all
3 zones green.

All my setups are configured this way. At the start of every
gig, (start with setup 1 above) I push zone button 2 once. This way
all I have to do is push it once during the performance and zone 2
is on, push once again and it's off. That way I can toggle between
zone 1 alone and zones 1 &2 together with single button push.
When I want all 3 zones together, I switch to the second
setup. Then, when I want to simplify the sounds again, I go back to
first setup.
This way everything is done with single button push, which I
can live with. The keyboard remembers the last zone button pushed,
so zone 2 is always active, ready for a single button push, no matter
what setup I use.
Thanks. I've still been hoping to do the pedal changes within a
particular setup, since it's just so smooth sounding, even more so
than going from setup to setup. Is there any way? Also, have you
noticed an extreme modulation in some of the electric piano sounds?
Is this inherent or is there a way to lessen the modulation?
Dave

To do some button presses remotely (Zone in your case) you would need
to send Sysex commands. I guess that could be possible. My
suggestion was based on what could be done via MIDI. Switching from
Setup to Setup is just as smooth as your method.

Modulation? Some of it may be effects, some may be inherent. Try
using this editor and see what you can find.

Need Kurweil PC2 MIDI Info!!!!

Please!!!
Can anyone out there please tell me how to set up my PC2 so that I
can access Zones 3-4 from another keyboard, and still use Zones 1-2
locally with a full keyboard on the PC2? I have weighted keys on my
PC2, and I want to access the organ and synth sounds from another
keyboard. I've tried everything possible that I could find in the
book, and I've NEVER had a problem like this with any of my other MIDI
keyboards in the past! This is usually a very simple MIDI set-up that
is usually just a matter of taking your sounds in your "multi-patches"
(MIDI SET-UPS on the Kurzweil), and setting each sounds MIDI channel,
and whether it is wanted to be MIDI or local. What the hell is up with
this thing!!!! Please HELP!!!!! Thanks!!!

It's dirt-simple to do.

Get to The MIDI Xmit Menu in each of the 2 zones you mention in your
Setup. In each MIDI Xmit parameter, set it to MIDI. Make sure you set
all of the zones to different MIDI channels.

Re:Music and Sound Update

Yowzah, Peter thanks for the links...some interesting news and sounds.

Lest we not forget, Larry Fast was aka Synergy long before his
association
with Peter Gabriel.

Larry is truly an emusic pioneer...right up there with his
contemporaries
Wendy Carlos and Tomita. Anyone not familiar with the Synergy catalog
owes it to themselves to check it out. The full list of recordings
is available
from emusic.com, a monthly download subscription service that I also
highly recommend.

When I was a Roland product specialist back in the late '80's I received
a support call from Larry as I would find out when I asked for his
contact
info to log the call. Needless to say I gushed a bit before ending our
conversation. I then announced to the rest of the crew that I had just
spoken with a god. It was right up there with my chat with Michael
Pinder, the original Mellotron master of the Moody Blues.

I had the good fortune to catch Larry with Tony Levin when they
played the now-defunct Zephyr here in SLC. The band also included
Rick Marotta on drums and Jesse Gress on guitar. Larry ran everything
of a K2000 and sounded wonderful as expected. Killer show as if TL
would put out anything less...

Are your Replies not appearing? Here's why:

Just a reminder to people to check the "To:" box when you want to post
replies.

It must have "KurzList <at> yahoogroups.com" selected. It does not
necessarily select this by default.

Easier just to say "REPLY ALL" :-)

Then again, you'd think folks as smart as it takes to operate a Kurzweil
would be able to operate a MUCH simpler email program :-)

Ok, bad moderator...I'll shuddup now...

Indeed. Other groups do. But this is the BEST way to do it. Resistance is
futile.

(I promised I'd only question this capricious setting. twice a year. This
is it. Merry Christmas!)
