Left channel Problem

Tony,

Are you using balanced or unbalanced cables?

The Puppeteer
http://sonikmatter.com

==================================================
My left channel mix output is usually dead when I turn
on the 2600. After reading the email posts of a few
weeks ago I worked the A,B,C,D, outputs with a 1/4"
plug to no effect. But when I took out the Right plug
of the mix output the left worked as mono. If i put
the right plug half way in both channels worked (in
mono?).
Any ideas and solutions? No workable solution other
than standard issue from Kurz Inc.
How do u take this thing on the road w/o the Jaguar
solution(take two so u have a spare, when one breaks).

Help?

Tony

A tube pre amp and Jordan Rudess question

Hi everybody. I'm not satisfied with the current sound when recording
my K2661. I'm just running the line outputs into my m audio firewire
audio interface. I don't have room for a keyboard amplifier but I was
thinking that a stereo tube pre amp before the line inputs on my audio
interface would warm up the sound a little. Does anybody have feedback
on certain stereo tube pre amps over others, specifically ones that are
good for synths? I was looking into the Presonus blue tube DP pre which
has both digital and anolog outs.

I've done a lot of recording but never really with my synth yet.

Also, does anybody have any info on the way in which Jordan Rudess
records his keyboards for both his solo work and for the Dream Theater
albums? I've read a bunch of interviews with him but can't seem to find
much information as far as the engineering side of things goes. I
imagine it would be both a DI and stereo miked signal fed into the
console with everything multi tracked but that's about all I can gather
from listening to the recordings. I e mailed Bear Tracks studios with a
few questions but received no response. (I'm not surprised, being that
they are a commercial studio but I am a full time studio production
student at university so at least a short response would have been nice
to see.)

Thanks in advance for any info.

I guess I'm looking for recommended gear as well as techniques.

Regards,

Cameron.

Re: FLOPPY DRIVE PROBLEM

Hi Tony,

That message could mean a few things:
the disk is not in a format that the K2000 can read
the disk has been damaged or corrupted and cannot be read
the drive has been damaged and cannot read some/all disks
on the disk page you have not selected an addressable scsi ID
--i.e. the Floppy is not selected.
some other component or connection is damaged or loose
the drive is dirty and needs to be cleaned

Ok, that's all I can think of.
Have you formatted the disk with the K2000?
Has the disk been placed carefully on the magnet
of a subwoofer?

Hope this helps.

Jon

Re: VAST Programmer - Recent screen shot

looks nice, but what is the final story with k2000 support?? the
last blurb that was sent to the list says it supports k2xxx but
later on it says k26xx and maybe will support k25xx in the
future, with no mention of the k2k?? since i haven't found a
decent soft-programmer for it yet i'm kinda anxious to see a new
one that looks good...

also....what is the general practice for transposing samples?? i
found some synth waves that are spaced in octaves, is it better
to use those pitches as the bottom octave and shift up and
octave, use them as the top octave and shift down or use them as
fifths and stretch them up and down?? just wondering, i've found
that pitching down usually sounds the best (the sampling works
as a lopass of sorts) i'm curious to know what other peepz
use...

Nick
