Kurzweil CC-1 pedal - What am I doing wrong?

Hi everybody.

What am I doing wrong?

I have a PC361 and was using an Ernie Ball volume pedal which connects to the audio output of the PC361, but I'd
like to remove it from the output chain so I got a Kurzweil CC-1 pedal to control the volume. It controls the
volume on the patches fine, but I have all kinds of setups and keyboard splits that I use, and can't figure
out how to make it work for me. I don't use patches when working LIVE, only setups.

Here's an example of where I have a problem. I have a setup with electric piano on the split lower half of the
keyboard with a starting volume of 108 on midi channel 1, and 2 different mixed brass patches on the split
upper level, one with a starting volume of 92 on midi channel 2, the other with a starting volume of 102 on
midi channel 3.

3 different patches at 3 different volume levels in this setup. Everything is in perfect balance when I
select the patch, when I don't use the CC-1 pedal. As soon as I use the pedal and move it, all the patches used
to make up the setup are now the same volume level and nothing is in balance. Naturally I want the entire
setup to get louder or softer in balance, but don't know if that is possible. If not, then I'll have to go back
to my Ernie Ball volume pedal.

Is there a setting that I'm missing, or an obvious work-around that I just haven't thought of? Is this pedal
not useable in this kind of situation?

Steve

useing other synths with the K2500s

Since my K2500s is so heavy and difficult to program, I bought a Yamaha TG500 module and a EMU PK 6 for my setup
to provide me with:
1)a light keyboard i could take to reharsals before I break out the Kurzweil for the gig
2)a sound source to sample and tweak in the Kurzweil
3)use the PK 6 as a midi controller mainly to 'drive' my kurzweil with drum beats and arps,
and of course
4) fantastic, increable, unbelieveale, fat layers and sequences.
but I don't really understand how to get the best output routeing. I know I'll figure it out by trial and error
sooner or later but I hope someone can help me cut down the experimenting time. I could run the PK 6 outputs
into ether the Kurzweil or the TG 400 or run the Kurzweil output into ether the PK 6 or TG 500. I don't know if I
have the KDFX but I have a problem useing the Kurzweil effects and would like to ultilize the effects on the
other boards. My only other option is to get a 6 channel mixer and an outboard effects unit, would that be a
more praticle solotion? If anyone has any tips and tricks for a set up such as this, please share.

K2600 audio outs

Hi all,

Can someone please give me a quick education on what the audio outputs
are for, i. e. "A" - "D" and the LR mix outs are for on the back of the
K2600?

Also, what I am wondering is:

Is it possible to plug a couple of small studio monitors into one of the
output pairs and use a second output pair - (which ones I should use I
don't know), - into one of the sterrio inputs on my Allen & Heath mixing
board for recording in Sonar?

I hope my question is understandable,

John

SP4-7 Control Knob Parameter Settings

Hi, I have a Kurz SP4-7 Piano and have been forever trying to figure out what the Control Knob does exactly and
how it manipulates the 5 parameters (Timbre, Mod, Envelope, Effect, Reverb) listed. I could find
virtually nothing in the musicians guide that explains each of these parameters and or the effect in
detail. What the Control Knob does now is minimal and almost laughable (with the exception of the Reverb,
which can actually be tweaked). Is this explained somewhere or am I missing something? I love the board in
general, but this is strange.

Regards,
RM

Reminder needed please

Hi all,

I'm getting back into recording again. Can someone please remind me
where I find the metronome parameters settings are in the K2600?

I know that there is some kind of way to change what the metronome
sounds like and for example, how loud it is.

Thanks,

John

PC3LE note robbing ?

My understanding of `note robbing' is that when the number of voices being played exceed the number of
available voices (64 on the LEs) the instrument will cut off previously keyed voices to make up for the new
ones. BUT, should this happen just because you have several programs spread across the keyboard that
aren't sounding?
I keep experiencing the release portion being cut off, especially with programs like strings that have a
longer release time, even though they are the only program being played at the time.
Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

thanks!
-Steve W.

Anyone Encountered This Problem?

I have three K-2000's, which I love; each with CF card SCSI retro-fittings, maxed RAM and so on. One I keep at
my rehearsal space; another stays in the road case for gigs. Some time ago, I bought rack mount version for
the house. Then, I got married, and musically overextended myself for a year or two.

Now as I'm just getting around to setting up this unit (along with my home studio of domestic bliss), for some
reason the Kurz does not play my (wave-based) program samples properly... Sometimes, the samples are
silent and others sound garbled, as if the root key is several octaves lower than it should be. meanwhile,
the internal "stock" sounds seem fine.

This one runs OSv3.54 while the others are on v3.87. That *can't* be it, can it? Any suggestions to diagnose
and treat this ailment would be appreciated. BTW, I appreciate this listserv a great deal.

Broken key

Greeting fellow Kurz lovers:

I have a broken "D" key on a used K2500S that I just bought.

Anyone know where I might buy a new key to fix it?

Thanks for your help.

K2500r Maybe not true blue of death.

Hi,

I'll been playing around with my K2500r and had hoped that a re-flash of the prom should solve my problem.

It's like I have a not true blue screen of death.

I de-soldered the proms, read them, and re-flashed them with boot loader 1.12 and also OS 3.02.
Either I get Waking up Scanner, Please wait or blue screen only.

If I press 4,5,6 it does the walking LED dance, and stops with blue screen.
If I press 7,8,9, I can test keys and value knob, and LEDS are blinking, so It looks like some part diagnostic
test for the Audio board is working, but without any display output.

I have contacted the guy that owned the K2500r and asked if he did anything prior to the problem, like
fiddling around with SCSI peripherals or anything like that, he says he set it all up for a gig, left it on,
and then when he returned after 30 minutes, the screen was blue/green with no characters..
He then tried to restart it, but no go.

It looks to be a later K2500r as it has the RAM protection board.

I did check the halt line, and after a while it goes low..
So something is pulling it's leg..
I did manage to get in to boot loader menu one, but when I tried to do a hard reset, it froze..

The RAM protection board, is that for the static RAM's on the audio board, or for the RAM on the CPU board?

How common is RAM problems on the CPU board?
I did read the eprom's on the Audio boards, and the checksum I got, was the same as on the labels.

We repaired some Atari TT's back in the hay days, one common issue was the SCSI chip, the K2500r is using the
